Hello. I'm newly diagnosed with PCOS and am trying to concieve. My doctor started me on Metformin and Provera. I have a question that is really troubling me. I finished my first month of Provera last Tuesday and still have not received my period...has this happened to anyone?

My doctor is sending me to an Infertility specialist, but my appointment isn't until the end of May.

Any information anyone has would be GREATLY appreciated!

Hi and welcome to SC. I was groanng in my posts for about a week b/c I didn't get a period w/Provera until about 10-12 days after I took the last pill. I'm not sure if you're supposed to take Provera if ttc? What does your doc say about that? (the one who is prescribing you the Provera?) Not ttc, so not sure if I even know what I'm talking about? I just know on my old bottle of Fortamet it said, ]"if you are pregnant or are considering becoming pregnant you should discuss the use of this medication w/your pharmacist or doctor", and my bottle of Provera does say, "Do not take this drug if you become pregnant"..

Hiya Stephanie... welcome to SC!

After a round of Provera it may take upto 10 days or so for AF to show ... however, some women have seen her in as little as 2-3 days. So I would say to give it until the end of the week... I know, that seems like an eternity - but by all standards you're still within the time frame.

We're TTC too and I've been waiting on AF so that we could start our 2nd round of Clomid... but, she's been a no show! So, my doc had my start a 10 day round of Provera (starting 2 nite). This is a new one for me b/c I normally have to take Provera to stop AF ... never had to take it to get it going!

I wish you the best... have a little patience... she'll show!

Couple of Q's for ya before I go ... mainly for curiousity sake ::

(1) How many mgs of Provera were you on?
(2) How many days did you take it?
(2) How many mgs of Met are you taking?
(3) Will you be doing Clomid once AF arrives?
