Default questions

I want to thank all you ladies for your responses to my previous posts. I know I'm probably asking questions that have been asked a thousand times but I really appreciate your help, I have no idea where else to go. My questions are again about the shadow I have on my upper lip that looks like a mustache.

Do any type of skin lighters or bleachers help at all?

Does shaving make the shadow worse or better?

And also about exfoliating, will this help or make it worse?

Thanks so much!

I bleach mine and also cut the hair short with small scissors - looks much better! I still would like to be rid of it completely, but this is what I do for now.

Do you have a problem with a dark stain on your upper lip after shaving? Or the "5 o'clock shadow" that occurs later in the day?

i use one of those small pencil sized shavers, they hide in your purse for quick fixes and dont leave any shadows or anything

Exfoliate! Exfoliate! Exfoliate!

It soooo improves things! Makes your skin softer and finer, unclogs pores, gets rid of dead skin cells and makes your shave much closer than it would have been without exfoliating. It also helps you beat those pesky ingrowns.

If what you are referring to is a darkening of the skin and not hair, then the only suggestion I have for you is to cut back on the foods that cause your insulin levels to rise (typically, foods high in glucose and/or carbohydrates). Why? Because what you describe is a symptom of Insulin Resistance. I, for instance, was diagnosed by a doctor because he noticed the darkened skin patches on the nape of my neck and between my breasts.

If I am understanding your symptom correctly, then severely reducing the number of carbs you eat in a day and/or drastically limiting your sugar/glucose absorbtion will greatly reduce this darkened patch of skin over a period of time (not too long, mind you).

I can always tell when I'm eating too many foods that flare up my IR by whether those patches appear and/or disappear...

Good Luck!
