Arrow Questions about BCPs

Hi,

I have been taking Desogen for a couple of years now but I noticed that not many cysters are taking it. I wonder which are the best BCPs for cysters and I know that they say not to use BCPs for long term but how else can u regulate your menstural cycle? Without my pills, I only get my cycle maybe once a year...and I have tried everything for wieght loss and nothing seems to work. When I first went on BCPs, I had very quick weight loss...30 pounds off in about a month and my acne cleared up...but I have gained all that back and then some and my acne is coming back, though it is not as bad as it was before I started on BCPs. Today, I exercse daily---cardio plus weight training plus dieting and I have not lost any weight :-( Can this be caused by adapting to the BCPs? Would changing BCPs help me loose weight and clear up the acne?

Also, I know this maybe a personal question, but I have noticed that ever since I started BCPs, I have a noticiable decrease in libido...anyone else experience this? I am only 23 and am concerned about this.

I don't have health insurance so advice from other cysters would help me a lot.

Thanks

I've never heard of Desogen before but I can tell you its different for everyone when it comes to BCPs, you just have to find something that works! I'm on Diane 35 (Dianette is some other places) and its cleared my acne and I've lost weight. I've heard Met has helped other cysters regulate and also that flaxseed oil is good too, a cyster in another forum reported getting her AF back after taking some daily. As for weight loss you did not mention the diet you are on? Most cysters find success on low carb or low gi diets South Beach and Weight Watchers appear to be the most popular. I'm managing my own diet by calorie counting, 1200 caloies a day, 90g of carbs max and 30g of fat max. I walk for 30-45 mins 5 times a week and also have started yoga and pilates to tone. Perhaps trying out some new excercise routines will help? It might be you are adapting to your pill and your body needs a break or a switch, thats something you can discuss with a doctor. As for a decrease in libido, thats a common side affect most of us go through

Good luck! I'm sure other cysters will come along to help too

Thanks for the info,

I am also doing calorie counting and trying to stick to a low carb diet....the carbs that I do eat are whole grains. I have also been trying to mix up my exercise routine...I do know that your body can adapt to that to and actually trys to burn less energy doing the same routines. I think I will mix some pilates in...I do have some DVDs. Hopefully I will have some success..I am trying to stay postive minded, I know that stress increases cortisol levels so I will just keep trying.

Thanks
