Question Questions about early loss

I had my first US today (should have been 6w4d) and there was no gestational sac or fetal pole. My RE drew another beta which ended up being 2,000 something. They want me to continue my progesterone suppositories and come back in a week for another US. Has anyone else had to wait for a week like this? Just what do they think is going to appear in a week? I just want to get whatever is left in my uterus out so I can start the healing process. For those that had a loss this early... did you naturally miscarry or have a D&C?

Thanks in advance for any information you can give!

Alaine,
I'm sorry you are going through this.
Sometimes with Pcos you have later ovulation than you think. That would mean you may not be as far along as you might think. I would follow the Dr.'s recommendations and check out this site: http://www.misdiagnosedmiscarriage.com/

There are soooooo many stories of women about to terminate only to have one more u/s and see a heartbeat.

I wish you only the best.

i agree that there might still be a chance, but i'm very sorry your u/s didn't conclude a good answer for you. i hope that you see a viable pregnancy next time, but if not, we'll be here for you. ((hugs))

my early loss involved a natural m/c starting while using the supplements, though they sometimes postpone release of anything. my bleeding lasted about twice as long as af and was strange. each story is different, of course.

Big hug.

I had low, slow betas from the beginning and they were not optimistic. When I went to rule out ectopic then they did see a gestational sac, and a week later a yolk sac. Everything was about a week behind where it should have been -- and they were not optimistic, but said it could still be viable.

Before I could go back the following week I m/c. I was either side of 7 weeks depending on whether you went by what they saw or the date of my IUI (so little mystery on the O date, although they said late O and/or late implantation always possible).

While I'm glad it happened naturally, it strung out for 2 weeks, which was draining. (This was my first pg and first m/c.) I was just beginning to think about either meds or surgery to move things along.

I second what Gina said about http://www.misdiagnosedmiscarriage.com/ -- lots of good info whatever happens.

I'm very sorry for what you're going through.

(((Hugs))) I'm so sorry you are going through this...

I had low beta's as well, and that was what alerted the Dr... I miscarried naturally, but echo what Tia said about being strung out, it was really hard waiting because I knew it was all over.

I hope you get some resolve very soon...
Nicole

I agree with the ladies who said it's too early to give up on this pregnancy just yet. And the misdiagnosed miscarriage site has LOTS of useful info and stories similar to yours, with good and bad outcomes.

I had an u/s this time around at 6 wks, 1 day b/c of bleeding, and all they saw was an empty sac. (We did FET, so we knew our dates were exact.) A week and a half later, we saw a healthy baby and heartbeat.

You may have O'd later than you think, you could have a late implanter or a slow grower. All of these things could throw your dates off. Add to that the fact that at such an early stage of pregnancy the babies are soooooooooo tiny, they can be hard to find for a while. And, if you have a tilted uterus, it makes the babe even harder to see during the first trimester.

If you're having a hard time waiting a whole week (and who wouldn't!), ask your doctor to run a repeat beta and compare the numbers. If the numbers are going up at anywhere in the "normal" rate range, there's every reason to think the little one is still growing. If it's dropping, at least you won't have to wait so long for the u/s and can prepare yourself for what you will or won't see.

The times I did m/c, I had natural m/c every time. My body seemed to handle it fine on it's own, and no one ever mentioned D & C.

I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Debbie

Thank you all so much for your support and advice! I was on Clomid/Repronex/trigger and had an IUI. So, I wouldn't think I ovulated late... but who knows. My beta at 14dpiui was 32, it was 71 at 17dpiui. Also, I do have a retroverted uterus. I guess I'll be cautiously hopeful.
Thanks again for replying to my post.
