Hello everyone, I had a few questions about filing the I-600A before I sent it off. Does anyone know if I need to send it to any specific department at the office I'm applying to, and if I need to include any kind of return envelope? Also, do I just submit the petitioners birth certificate, or is it both? And lastly, do I just paper clip everything together with the form and the casheirs check? I contacted my case worker but she hasn't gotten back to me yet and I really wanted to get it sent out today. Thanks for any help!

No, you just send it to your local office ( www.uscis.gov should be able to tell you the office @ address to send it to). You don't need to include a return envelope but you do need to include 2 pre-printed address labels (they didn't even use ours so I have no idea why they need them!) You include everyones birth certificate that lives in your house and is above the age of 18 as well as your marriage certificate and any divorce decrees (if applicable). We paperclipped everything together and stuck it in the envelope. We actually overnighted ours so we were sure they got it and could have proof who signed for it if there were any problems.
Are you sending to Dallas (can't remember if you're in N. Tx or where...)?

Ok thanks! I have my form all filled out and ready to go but I forgot to have DH sign it, so I have to wait until tomorrow. Oops!
Ours goes to the San Antonio office. I hope they aren't a particularly slow office. lol. I was also going to overnight it so that I know for sure it gets there.

The San Antonio office is one of the offices that nothing makes any sense!
Some women in my DTC group had no problems w/ San Antonio and others have had horrible problems. Are you sending originals (BC's, MC's, etc.) or copies of the originals? I know that everyone that has horrible problems has had to send originals when nothing was wrong w/ the copies. The orphan officer is very tempermental and won't even coorporate when congresspeople have gotten involved!
The one that didn't have problems got her I-171H in I think 3 weeks. The ones that have had problems were still waiting 5 weeks later and finally got a letter stating that the office needed original documents.
I hope you don't have a problem, just warning you though. You might want to automatically send in originals just in case there is a problem if you have enough (we got 3 copies of each document just for that reason).

Oh lovely! LOL. Well luckily I did send originals of everything, so hopefully I won't have any problems at all. I sent it last Tuesday, so I guess right now I'm just waiting for our fingerprinting letter. I am really hoping it doesn't take too long, but if it does...I am prepared. In the meantime I will work on getting documents certified/authenticated. That will keep be busy, at least for a little while!

First, you should receive a receipt that your docs were received. Then you'll receive your fingerprinting letter.
We're in Dallas so our timeline is a little bit different but here it is:
8/4 - I-600A & docs received @ CIS
Received Receipt (I can't remember how long it took...maybe a week)
8/22 - HS overnighted to CIS
8/23 - Received HS report & Fingerprinting Letter
8/30 - Fingerprinted
9/23 - Received I-171H
Hope yours goes fast! It seemed like it took forever but now that I look back it really didn't. Part of the reason that ours may have gone faster is b/c our last name was spelled wrong (on their end) so I think the orphan officer was sick of us already and just wanted to speed us out of there!

Well according to UPS they received my documents on Oct. 5th, exactly a week ago, so I'm hoping that we'll receive something in the mail soon.
On another good note we received our certified birth certificates from NC and VA so the next step is to get those and our marriage certificate authenticated. Things are at least moving along and we're getting so very close to the end of the paperwork.
Traci, it seems like your approval went relatively fast. I hope mine does too!
