Default Questions about Spiro

Hi ladies,

I just resumed taking Metformin and have a follow up appt with my dr next week.

I've seen lots of mention of Spiro helping with hair loss. What is this medication exactly? What is it for specifically? And, can it be taken with Metformin?

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi - I take 100mgs of spiro with 2000mgs daily of Met ER...and I am fine ( knock on wood, ha ha ) ...the spiro is supposed to help with the hairloss but I have only been on it for a couple of months and my endo said it could take up to a year to see results.

Just wanted to chime in...Spiro is the generic name for Aldactone. I took it with Metformin. It's a dieuretic, might make you pee more. Didn't for me. It can also lower blood pressure.

Good luck!

It's used to help prevent male pattern baldness and/or hirsutism. It lowers your testosterone. You can't take it while TTC or pregnant.

Aldactone is also used for cystic acne. My derm just put me on it. Was wondering if anyone bhad side effects? And did they think it helped their cystic acne?
