Questions before starting metformin

Hi,

I have a few questions about the use of metformin -
i. Has anyone taken metformin just before getting pregnant and during pregnancy?
ii. Any complications during pregnancy because of metformin?
iii. how long can one take metformin?
iv. if PCOS symptoms reduce/dissappear with the use of metformin, can one stop taking metformin? If stopped, do the symptoms recur?
v. Does metformin help in reducing symptoms like excess hair? Any other medications to control the same?
vi. If diagnosed with PCOS, can one start metformin immediately? What tests should one do before starting metformin? How long does it take for the results to show?

Hi, I don't know a lot of the answers because I've just started taking met about 10 days ago.

I do know that you can take it before getting pg and during pg. That's why my dr wanted me to try it. I don't O on my own, so she wants me to try this.

I think it's suppose to help w/excess hair, wt gain, acne, af issues, but just depends on the person.

The only test I had done was a fasting 2 hour glucose, but my dr was going to put me on it anyway. I'm not IR.

I hope that helps alittle and I hope you get some more answers to your other ???'s.

I don't have answers to all your questions, but my RE put me on GlucXR to help me get pregnant and says that I will stay on it through at least the first trimester to help reduce my risk of miscarriage. Before he put me on this medication he said my risk of miscarriage was virtually a sure thing...
