I've been so swamped at work this week that I completely forgot that we were having Chili and Poker night at our house tomorrow. It takes at least 24hrs to make the chili perfect in the crockpot and I usually soak the beans for 24 hrs too. I don't have time to do both.
I remember hearing that boiling dry beans for a period of time was the equivalent of soaking beans for a day or so.
Any ideas on how I can get the beans prepped in time to cook the chili?
My box of spice mix for murgh cholay (chicken and chickpeas) says to soak the beans 3 hours and then boil on low for 2-3 hours. Of course those are chickpeas but legumes are legumes in my book. Good luck with the chili, I'm sure it will be delish.
