It's hard to say if you have always been IR. Changes in your body like birth can really do a number on your whole system. I know personally that I started really noticing all of my PCOS problems and diabetes issues after my first m/c. Before that I never felt that I had a problem, although now I realize I was most likely IR for at least 10 years before that.

Did you have problems with gestational diabetes when you were pg? Just curious.

Cystermoon,
No gestational that I know of but I was 24 and they didn't test for that routinely. I do know that the weight I gained after my son was mostly around the belly which was new because I was always a big butt person.I have been eating a low carb lifestyle for the last year and a half and that has helped alot.I was also told to eat carbs for the 3 days prior to glucose testing-Do you know if thats true? I only hesitate because that will cost me at least 6-7 lbs of weight gain.

Unfortunately I do think they want you to eat some carbs in order to be able to test accurately, however I wasn't asked to over do or anything.
