Drinking stimulates my appetites and its calories that I don't generally burn off. So in that sense, drinking does hinder my weight loss.
As far as having a glass of wine with dinner or something, as long as you are aware of how much energy its contributing (and how much you need to do to burn it off) then it may not be a problem.
