| Loving my sons & hubby :) Join Date: Nov 2002 Location: Canada eh! ![]() | I am looking to buy a smooth-top range, & I want to buy one that's easy to clean. Just wondering, for those that own one, what brand do you have, & do you recommend it? I have heard that some brands of smooth-top ranges are easier to clean than others, but I haven't been able to find out which ones suck & which are good. Thx!!

She had previously had coil top stoves and said she made a mistake buying her current one. My friend's biggest issue was that it could be a pita to try and clean the burnt on stuff but what really bothered her was that it scratched so easily. I think they look great in a kitchen and had one in a home that we rented for 6 months. My issue with it was that it had a white top, which I don't think they even make anymore, and for a good reason. 15+ years of cooking on it severely discolored it. Other than that, we didn't have any isses with it. I have been warned by many that repairs can be pricy because if there is an issue with the ceran top, the entire piece needs replacing, sometimes costing as much as the stove it self.(Not sure if this true, but have been told this by numerous sources) This has always made me a little leery about purchasing one for myself. I currently have a gas stove, and love it. I am not an avid cook but after using gas, I don't think I could back to a regular stove. Good Luck with your purchase. Clean up is easy, just wipe, although every couple of weeks you have to use the special cleaner, more often the more you cook... The only problem I have with cook tops is it takes longer to boil something than the old coil ones.... Other than that I love ours...
