Default A Quick Question, maybe someone could help.

Hi, I am new here and a little frusterated. I was diagnosed with PCOS when i was 17, i am now 22. Apparently my last ultrasound, displayed that i had no signs of having polycystic ovarian syndrome. When i was diagnosed with the disorder i had many many cysts, now i am displayinthe normal amount and no trace of having the disorder. My periods are now regular and i have lost weight. Has anyone else had this before. I still feel that i have the disorder. HOwever while the periods are normal I will try everything in my power to get pregnant.

    Hi,

You need to seek the advice of your Doctor and if your Doctor can't answer your questions you need to find another Doctor that will. If you are seeing a General Doctor now you might want to try and get a referal to a specialist if you're having trouble conceiving.

Maybe there's another lady on this board who has had their cysts either decrease or go away completely and may be able to give you advice on that - personally it hasn't happened to me.

Chin up though - I've had problems with PCOS since I was 16 and I had two healthy children in my mid 20's

    Best,

    Paula

You could be in remission. It seems as we age our PCOS can come and go for some of us. At 17 I was pretty much symptom free. By 22 PCOS was hitting hard again. I seem to have highs and lows. Diet and meds can have a major impact on such things I think.

Having cysts on your ovaries isn't the only indication of PCOS (it is actually a bad name) because you can have PCOS and NOT have cysts on your ovaries. How are your hormone levels? Have those checked, as they are a better indicator as to problems. If your hormone levels are ok, just keep trying - it will happen. You are doing a wondeful job, since you lost weight and got AF regulated - good for you!

I certainly have PCOS, but don't usually have any ovarian cysts. When I was in my 20s I usually had normal periods as well. PCOS is a syndrome and not a disease because there are a grab bag of symptoms. We all have different combinations of them. I have have fertility issues and most of the skin issues (excessive body hair, acne, dandruff when I was younger, etc.). I don't, however, have ovarian cysts, excessive weight, skin tags, or high blood sugar. I think you'll also find that your symptoms may vary over time. Changes is stress levels, diet, weight, and just normal aging can either improve or exacerbate syptoms. Your body is apparently pretty happy with things right now.

My advise is to continue treatment as though you still have PCOS. Enjoy the break from symptoms for as long as it lasts. Good luck! I hope your BFP comes soon.

my Dr told me that on the months you have periods, there will be no cysts.
thats why we get so uncomfortable when the periods are irregular, thats when the cysts are building up. Robin
