I've been on 500mgs/day of Met for only a week, and today I had an u/s of my uterus/ovaries. The tech said my ovaries look fairly "normal" and it looks like I have a dominant follicle developing. Don't know if I've O'ed in the past, but it looks like I could be soon, so I think it's worth a shot for you! Good luck!!
