Unhappy Radiologist Questioning DX

I went in for an UltraSound on Friday, because I had been having some severe pain in my lower right pelvic area. I thought maybe it was my ovary since I have a history of enlargement and cysts. So went to family doctor and she thought maybe Kidney Stones or UTI and maybe an ovarian cyst rupture, she gave me some antibotics and an order for ultrasound.. Went to U/s and the radiologist (which I used to work for) said who diagnosed you with the PCOS and I told her and she said that polycystic ovary look like strings of pearls and mine didnt look like that, I do have multiple cysts on both ovaries and one about 1 in in diameter on my right side, which she said was the reason I was having pain.. So now I am wondering could I have been misdignosed???? I have all the problems that associate with PCOS.... I go to a new GYN on this upcoming Friday.. I have been on met for almost a year in June.. Should I ask for some clomid??? I dont know what my next step should be? Surgery?? Any suggestions?

I just had an ultrasound last week & did not have the classic "string of pearls" either. According to my doctor, that does not rule out PCOS and you do not have to have polycystic ovaries to have the syndrome. I doubt you were misdiagnosed.

I have heard "CLASSICALLY" it is a string of pearls, but as we all know, not everything is a textbook definition of a condition

When I went for my u/s in February I didn't have any cysts at all. However my ObGyn said my bloodwork confirmed that it was PCOS and that not all women with PCOS have cysts. This is why they look at u/s, bloodwork and history before making a diagnosis or at least my Dr does anyway.
