Default Random Gagging Fits?

I just started glucophage like a week or so ago. Hadn't really noticed any side effects. This morning I've just started to randomly gag; I'm wondering if it could be related to the medicine at all. Like I was sitting at my desk and getting ready to sip some of my coffee and then BOOM... had to run to the bathroom, where I proceeded to gag a bit and then be fine again. Then I was going to take a Tylenol and before I got the pill to my mouth I felt like I was going to gag. I swallowed it anyway.. and then off to the bathroom I went once again. Then another time (also this morning) I was just walking through the house and I started to gag.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? I've never had anything like this happen before and its really weird. I feel perfectly fine right now.

I've heard of nausea, but not gagging...could be part and parcel with the nausea though. The only time I had gagging fits was when I was pregnant and I would brush my teeth!

Lately brushing my teeth has been making me do it, too ... but I didn't think much of that. It didn't happen again yesterday. Then this morning after I had been on the treadmill for about an hour it happened again ... I really didn't eat much this morning so I think that may have been why.

.... I guess gagging randomly is better than being nauseous and then actually getting sick. Being nauseous sucks. I don't feel bad before the "fits" and I don't feel bad after them so I suppose its not that big of a problem. Just kind of annoying.

In all likelihood, it's the Met. When I first started it, I was sooo nauseous all the time. And when I wasn't nauseaus, I was gagging. It was pretty much all the time that I was gagging, but especially when I thought about or smelled food. It has gotten a lot better though. I would say that after about four weeks of being on Met it started getting better. I still have bouts of gagging occasionally, but for the most part I am fine now. HTH!

Yeah its definitely the medicine... I started taking two pills yesterday and I woke up in the middle of the night and was REALLY nauseous. It only seems to really be a problem in the mornings though. I'm glad to hear that this will hopefully be temporary.

HI mellisa!! Ha hah aha-- Ihad to giggle when saw your thread. I was going to start one about this. It's so funny how met affects everybody.

in the last three weeks I have actually gotten sick! I don't just gag either. Ya nice huh!!!! I'm putting up with it though because this drug is really helping me!!!!

Anyway two nights ago I woke up at 1:30 in the morning and had to run to the bathroom. Total this has happened to me 4 times in the last 3 months and it usually happens if I eat high fat food/creamy food and have had a few alcoholic drinks. My mom and I were talking about it the other night and I was confused because there are sometimes when I drink A LOT and I'm fine. Then when I only have one or two I'm not. Anyway we decided that drinking a lot is the answer because it must knock me out through the needing to throw-up! HA!! I"m sooooo kidding.. We have a goofy sense of humor!

aNYWAY maybe you just started the met and your body is getting used to it. If not analyze what you are eating and find out what it is that is causing it. It's like clockwork for me. Anytime I eat high carb/high fat (creamy) and link it with alcohol.....blah!
