you know, i have never read about US people adopting from canada. never seen an agency that does it, either... can US people adopt from canada, do you think? i'm just generally curious.
I think I read someplace that you have to be a Canadian resident to adopt from Canada. Hopefully one of our Canadian cysters can share with us!

I've heard the same thing.
I have a friend from Canada who adopted through the foster care system up there and it seems SOOOO much easier and mainstreamed up there than it is here in the US.

To my knowledge, you have to be a Canadian resident to adopt from Canada. I am a Canadian, but have been living stateside for the last 7 years. Even though I am a still a citizen of Canada, I am not a resident of Canada and therefore dh and I can not adopt from Canada... plus, the waiting period for an infant is just as long in Canada as it is in the U.S.A.
Hope this helps.

right, well, that seems to be the consensus. i just became curious since i had never seen it actually stated, that you had to be canadian, and also because i stumbled across some photolistings from... alberta, i think, and it made me wonder. and nope, i wouldn't be seeking an infant anyhow. this photolisting had some compatible-looking under-6 kids, though. oh, well.
