My Mood: Points: 7,319.03 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 7,319.03 | RANT. Sorry girls but I have to. <<<<
THAT IS WHAT I SEEM TO BE DOING.
I have just been to the fricking doctors. AGAIN. I had to see that old GP of mine who I recently posted about on here. The man doesn't have a clue.
I went in and asked if he would prescribe me some Natural Progesterone Cream as I had heard from some friends (I hope you don't mind me referring to you as friends, I know I'm newish)
Now I'll tell ya, I've been in there before asking for treatment and they've mentioned me going on the pill numerous times, but they want me to lose weight first. FINE. I'M TRYING.
So I ask him for this stuff, and he looks at me, tuts, and shakes his head. He then proceeds to start giving me a lecture about people thinking they know better than doctors, and that no cream whatsoever works for PCOS, and that I should book an appointment with one of the female doctors, to be put on the pill!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now that would be fair, if he thought I'd be okay on it. But I don't think he does! Cos every time I've seen him he plays the lose weight card. As I'm sure many of you have experienced with these kind of doctors.
But not only that, now forgive me if I am wrong but my research and feedback from others on here, I have picked up that oestrogen is whats ****ing us up. We need progesterone to balance it out and because of our IR we have too much sodding oestrogen.
So please. Someone try and tell me, why the damn bollocking hell he said to go to one of the woman doctors and get put on a pill that gives you an oestrogen boost??????????????????????????????
I'm sorry for my language and my rantness but I am sick of people like him palming me off all the time. I am trying to sort this out and for years have been trying to do it alone. I'm lost!

I've booked another appointment for thisafternoon with the nurse practitioner.
I want to ask about Provera, but is it available in the UK?

It's for september 1st but the nurse said she'd try to bring it forward.
I went to the GP yesterday like I said he said that NPC won't work for pcos, no cream does, I know he was talking a load of bull so I'm going to buy some NPC next week and for now I am using Wild Yam Cream.

My Mood: Points: 8,375.67 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 8,375.67 | Your in the same boat as me!! Im hard pressed to find a doc that will prescribe me NPC in New Zealand and I sorta feel like im being deprived of something that could possibly help me. My doc looked at me like I was a freak when I asked for it and told me that he would be out of a job if we believed everything we read on the internet. I have found that docs hate that we have the information about our problems when we come to see them and then send you off with a BCP prescription. aaaargh!!!
CAUTION: Wild Yam Cream does NOT work like NPC. The ingredient called diosgenin that is in Wild Yam has to be converted in a laboratory. Wild Yam cream works no better for you than if you justed rubbed regular moisterising cream onto your stomach.

xxxx | I swear doctors live in a bubble - they are so unbelievably close minded. Can't tell you how many problems I reversed with supplements - problems they could not offer any solutions to!! Progesterone cream DOES work!! Years ago I had 10 day AF's which would stop & start every other day. 21 day cycle. The month after my first shutdown, I got pg (m/c'd). My cycles were normal ever since, with exception of putting any synthetic hormones into my body, which incidentally cause an imbalance (but are sometimes a necessary evil).
Funkydiva is exactly right. They need to convert wild yam (or soy) in the lab. If it says "USP progesterone" in the ingredients, then it's the correct form. Otherwise, it's useless. In fact, wild yam will act as an estrogen. The last thing you need!
Keep doing what you're doing - your research - and you'll find your way to what works for you. Nothing is hopeless - you will turn this around with the right info/experimenting!
I no longer take doctors advice as gospel. I use the lab tests basically on my own to make my own decisions about treatment. If they offer me drugs, I find another natural solution. You will learn that it's very hard to find a truly knowledgeable, open minded doctor. Just don't let them get to you. Always take it with a bit of skepticism, and find alternative solutions if need be.

You can have low or normal estrogen, but even lower progesterone. Progesterone is key, and is the master hormone. It is a precursor for estrogen the following follicular phase, and follicle/egg recruitment. Correct the missing progesterone, and you move towards correcting hormones in the following follicular phase.
Synthetic progesterone doesn't balance hormones. It just isn't recognized by our bodies as natural. It can help maintain a pgy, but creates more imbalance.
