Default Raves for my latest laser appt.

I just wanted to let you who are doing or thinking about doing laser that my latest appt was vastly less painful than the previous times.
I have been using the EMLA cream for numbing my face and that helps with the pain of the actual procedure but have still been dealing with the burning feeling afterwards. I have had to sit in the office for about 10 minutes with ice packs. Well the last time I went (3rd visit) the technician used a cold air blower to keep the heat down. She blew it on my face prior to lasering an area and then used it again after she did an area. I only had to sit for a moment with a cool cloth on when I was done and had less reddness and no blistering on my mole this time.
Best to all,
Sheri

Sheri,

I just had a few questions for you about the laser as I have been thinking about having it done myself. How many treatments will you have to have? What are they saying about how long it will last? What did you have to do for your initial consultation? I was told I'd have to go for 6 weeks w/o shaving, plucking, waxing or tweezing which is just not acceptable to me if I want to leave the house.

Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated!
Jill

They can't tell me how many treatments I will need. I never shaved prior to having the treatment (just plucked to thin) but it had gotten to the point where I couldn't take it anymore so they shaved it off on when I went in the first time. Now I shave it between treatments but usually leave a day or two so they can get an idea of the spots which need treatment. I can understand why you can't pluck or wax for 6 weeks but don't see any reason you couldn't shave as long as you leave it enough for them to see.
After I went in they gave me some emla cream and told me to come back in about an hour because she was afraid that my moustache area would be very painful without it. (very dark and course hair)
There is one spot on my upper lip which already seems smooth and hairfree but the technician can't say whether we have gotten all the hair in that area yet or not.
My sideburn area is mostly blond right now and I think it will probably require more treatments as the blondes become dark whereas my moustache is already mostly dark. I am optimistic about the treatments but realize it may be quite costly and time consuming (I did find a pretty good deal though by traveling to Canada for the work)
