Angry Razor Burn and Bumps

Was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to stop razor burn. I have to shave every day and my chin is fire engine red with tons of little bumps. Does anyonce know how to get rid of the bumps? The skin feels smooth, but does not look smooth. know what i mean? I am tired of my chin feeling like it is on fire!!!
Thanks for listening

I assume you're wet-shaving. Try a Norelco (men's) electric shaver instead.

hi

i always use warm water, and put on lots and lots of moisturiser after. Maybe you could be allergic to the shaving cream/gel? My skin is really sensitive and goes all red and hot.

I suggest trying the Womens Schick Quattro razor, I haven't had a problem with razor burn or redness since. I love it!

Good luck!

The Venus Devine razor with Gillette Satin Care fragrance free shaving cream are good too, cause the fragrance free one has no perfumes or dyes and it has shea butter. That will smooth your skin. I use the two and my face is red for a few minutes after shaving but it doesn't stay that way.

I shave my chin in the shower. After I've been in there a while steaming away. I smooth on some of the lotion I wash my face with, and gently use a ladies razor. New, sharp one every few days. I go easy, I don't try to dig them out with the razor. And I exfoliate when I wash my face. Gentle facial moisturizer afterwards.

Thank you all for your advise. Right now i use a mens mach 3 razor. I guess I should try one of the womens razors. I just figured that since i got hair like a man i should have a razor like a man. I just wish that i could get rid of these bumps. I think that they are bumps from the hair follicle being raised while shaving. Anyways, thank you for all your help everyone.

Do you exfoliate? I have found that exfoliating before shaving helps reduce those bumps a bit and gives me a closer shave. Also, moisturizing with a moisturizer that is oil free has been recommended to me.

I think you're right that if you have hair like a man you should have a razor designed for a man. I think that you'd find a men's Norelco (men's) electric razor very good for sensitive skin.

What do you use to exfoliate? Right now I use an exfoliating cleanser but i don't like it that much, but i have'nt been able to find anything better. I moisturize with Aveeno moisturizer for acne prone skin. The Aveeno seems to be working b/c my skin has cleared up. I also use Aveeno's shaving cream for sensitive skin. I really appreciate your help.

I use St. Ives Medicated Apricot Scrub. If your skin is really sensative, Daily Scrub by Got 2 B is pretty gentle.

The bumps can be caused by infection - bacteria getting in the hair follicles and they become inflamed. When I have had times when this has happened to me I used Hibiclens for a period of time until it cleared up. Hibiclens is an antiseptic/antimicrobial skin cleanser

http://www.drugstore.com/products/pr...-PLST-0-SEARCH

I also always use Sea Breeze (sensitive skin formula) as an "aftershave". I have also used 1% hydrocortisone cream on the inflamed area to "cool it down" after shaving. I don't use it all the time anymore (it isn't good for your skin to use it all the time on the same area), but it really does help clear up an inflammed area.

I prefer wet shaving, and if you do, then make sure to use a moisturizing shave cream and a fairly sharp razor. I find the razor works best for me when it has been used 2-6 times. The first time it is too sharp almost and causes some inflammation. By the seventh use it is getting to be too dull. So I replace my razor blade every week (I use Mach 3 right now but I am considering trying another type).

I exfoliate everyday, also i do it in the shower because it seems that the steam helps soften the hair. I found schick intuition plus, is the best one, it has built in shaving soild that doesnt cause redness or bumps, and i have very sensitive skin.

hope it helps
