Default RE: DianaG----------------------------->

Just thougth I would tell you that I went to the new RE. He was much nicer, and easier with explaining tests what they meant, etc.

He wants me monitored by a regular Endo for insulin.....where I will finally ask for the pump. I guess the insurance agency said they need to have pre-auth. for "the pump" did you have to do that as well?? My concern is they won't cover it...I think and don't quote me on it, but you or someone else told me that they are sticklers about type 2's getting "the pump" any suggestions?? Who is your insurance provider?? Do they cover Infertility?? Mine won't cover any infertility treatments...so I'm wondering where everyone gets the money to afford the treatments if their insurance doesn't pay for it.

Anyways, today I just had an endometrio-biopsy. I guess no new is good news...but I hate the wait. It freaks me out a bit.

I also have hyperprolactinemia so he wants me to have an mri to make sure that the prolactin hasn't caused a benign tumor of some sort.......unlike the other doctor, he said that they always check for tumors if the prolactin is high....just to make sure...but in most cases it is fine.

Lots of tests this month and next.......I'm queezy because I don't want any bad news. However I want to know so I can help myself get in better shape.

Also: While on insulin, are you also taking gluc?? I think I've see where some women stay on both........what do you know about that combination?? I know that if we're trying to get pregnant eventually that gluc isn't good....but then theres some dr.'s that keep people on both.

ANyways, just wanted to update you and say thanks for all your help.........you help keep me calm during such a scarey time.

talk soon!!

Becky,
I am sorry. I wish I had seen this sooner. I hope that you hear only good news about your procedure results.

As for the insurance I have Aetna PPO, but it will change to Cigna PPO in January, so I am sort of worried they will no longer cover my pump supplies (at least the pump is already paid for). I didn't get precertification, but it did take 4months after I received the pump before all the forms and reviews were down by insurance to finally agree to pay for it. Luckily, the pump supplier that works with my endo didn't pressure me for payment at all during the review process, however, they did talk payment plans with me in case insurance refused to pay.

As for the glucophage and insulin. The only danger in the combo is experiencing hypoglycemic reactions if you are not careful. Never skip a meal if you have taken your medicine and you will have to monitor your blood sugar 4 to 5 times a day.

I just saw a new doctor on the 23rd of October and she will most likely put me back on metformin (generic glucophage) if my bloodwork comes back ok. She is testing me for autoimmune problems because of the recurrent miscarriages. If they are positive she is referring me to an RE, so I hope they are negative because she is really nice and knowledgeable about PCO. Also, the closest RE to me is over an hour and a half away.

My insurance covers some infertility but not all. They cover bloodtests, clomid up to 6 months. 6 iui's and I think 2 ivf, but only some of the meds and injectibles. They also offer 5000 in adoption assistance if we decide to give up on having biological children. However, not all Aetna policies will cover what mine does because the infertility covered is decided on by your employer. They get to pick and choose what you are covered for. I haven't a clue what my new insurance in January will cover because the company is switching carriers and we don't get a choice on keeping what we have. However, my doctors are on both insurance plans so at least I don't have to switch doctors again.

Have a great night.
Diana
