Default RE or Endo?

I'm not TTC just yet... I think we're still trying to figure out exactly what is wrong with me (it's possible it's NOT PCOS after all...arg). So would I be better off seeing a reproductive endo or just an endo?

I have an appt on 7/24 with an endo who specializes in internal medicine... but I don't know anything about her. I'm a little worried about the clinic too... they charge for EVERYTHING and I do mean EVERYTHING, nothing is done for the patient without them making a penny! That gives me very bad vibes.

I'm just looking for someone to help me figure out what's wrong, in a very timely fashion (none of this go get labs and see me in a month and i'll interpret them then stuff)... help me make it better... and someday help me have a baby.

And I apologize cuz I'm sure this question has been asked before.. I'm just a little ticked after reading all that new patient stuff for this doc.

I would see someone who specialises in the reproductive area - but I can't imagine that they will be cheaper, or not take as long.

BUT on second thoughts, if they think it may not be PCOS, maybe an endo will be just as good, or even better, in finding out what is wrong?

Unfortunately, all this testing is expensive and it does take a long time. DH and I have been seeing doctors for fertility problems since March, and they are still yet to finish their testing to fully diagnose the problems.

It is great that you are thinking about doing stuff about wanting to have a baby now - it will be so much easier for you, when you do decide to start ttc. Unfortunately for DH and I, we had to try and fail for over a year before the doctors would run any tests for us - since we both appear healthy enough - and because I also didn't realise what having a regular cycle meant (oops!!) - and neither did the doctor ask me enough questions about my cycle, otherwise he would have found out how irregular I was!!

Anyway, I hope this helps...

I wouldn't know at all except we were TTC, and looking back, it's a good thing I didn't get pregnant! It could have ruined us because it was just too soon. I went 15 months without a period before my OB/Gyn finally decided something must be going on, and she mainly did a workup because I requested it (or rather nagged 'em to death about it).

I'm now thinking maybe I should see both... I've met my deductible for the year and my labs should be covered by my insurance provided I get 'em done at the hospital where I work... so why the heck not? I could at least call one of the local offices (Texas Fertility Center) and see what they would recommend and see if anyone has an opening... can't hurt anything, right?

I went to my family practice for a referral and went see an endoc. I never bothered seeing an OB/GYN til after I was pregnant and I never bothered to see an RE.

It's pretty much your call.
