Default RE & OB in SE New Mexico range

I'm in Southeastern New Mexico and looking for a good OB and reproductive endocrinologist. I know El Paso is close, along with Lubbock. I wouldn't even argue against Albuquerque, but don't know of much up in that area.

Any suggestions?

My RE was Dr. Thompson in Albuquerque. He is an awesome doctor. He works with Dr. Caperton, and they are both friendly and know their stuff. The office staff is so much better than most staff I've encountered. I love their office. For an OB, I am with Dr. Baskin. His bedside manner is okay but not great, and he knows his stuff. He is older, and has seen a couple generations through the city. His office is smaller, so you don't feel so shuffled through 15-minute-style like the big practices in town. I had an awesome OB with DD, butshe practices in Santa Fe now. If you are okay with an even further drive, Dr Barbara vanEeckhout is great.

HTH,
Andrea

Thanks so much for your post! I looked at their website and am thinking about calling them.

THe only thing I don't know about is A) referral for my insurance. I was referred to an RE by my OB in Michigan, but was with a different insurance company and B) We don't plan on trying again until the beginning of the summer (have about 30 more pounds I want to lose first). I was thinking though about maybe trying to get back on something like Metformin or something I can handle this time (did almost a year with Metformin and was constantly sick before and never saw much for results) to see if it'd help now that I'm down at a lower weight. I also wouldn't mind trying Femara.

Knowing them, should I contact them soon and meet with them for a consult or talk to an OB first? I've already done two stints at injects so I know that, if I can't try Femara first, I'll probably be on that track again, but nervous just who I should start with.

Anyways...not sure what to do. Thank you for your post!

I would make an appointment now and get a referral in the meantime. Dr. Thompson has been rated top doc in ABQ for RE the last two years and I hear it's not as fast getting in nowadays. The nurses have great info to help with metformin use and dealing with the sickness. This office is very PCOS friendly.
