Thanks, Linaa. I saw Dr. G today and he says he's fairly certain that it's not a viable pregnancy given they didn't see anything today. He did say that last week he would have had me continue my meds as it was too early (apparently he and Drs O and P had a talk about my case) and since he doesn't believe it's an ectopic, he's willing to continue refilling my meds and checking my levels as long as I want.

My DH and I decided to go once more next week for an u/s and if don't see anything by then, we would probably stop our meds to prepare for a FET cycle later in March.

Oh, and more thing. They didn't call with my lab results again today.

Dr. G just called me and my betas jumped up to 1900+. He's concerned again with a possible ectopic and told me to call his office the first sign of pain or bleeding I get.

Aww hun. I know all too well what you are going through right now. It's the same exact thing that was happening to me. My numbers started out at 442 (our biggest concern at that point was multiples), I spotted and the number only went to 1200 (should have been around 1600). Since I did not spot anymore we thought things were ok. I was supposed to go back a week later, but started spotting again and went to the ER where I was admitted for 3 days b/c they could not find anything and were concerned w/ an ectopic. My numbers started to go down while I was in there 5500, 4500, 3500 and since I was bleeding Dr. O and the hospital staff figured I was passing it on my own. 2 weeks later I go to Dr. O for a follow up and the number is in the 7000s. That was the day I seen Dr. G. They evenutally ruled it an ectopic b/c of something that kept showing up on the u/s near my Right ovary. Have you been bleeding/spotting at all?

I pray that your bean is just a slow starter. (((((((((((((((huggs))))))))))))))

Linaa, I have not been bleeding or feeling any pain at all. Dr. G was pretty confident it wasn't ectopic given the pelvic exam and 4 u/s but he did tell me to call him ASAP for any sign and I asked my family doctor for a prescription for an u/s so I can check with an independent lab.

Truebluebeliever - I had an ectopic last year. I was 8 weeks before I found out about it or the pregnancy. I had no signs or symptoms until my tube ruptured. I do not want to scare you, but am super glad that you will get an ultrasound from an independent lab.
I wish you the best.

Thank you for your concern, Sandv. I am a little worried myself, but at least there is hope for this cycle that this baby is just a slow developer and starting to catch up. I'll pick up my prescription later today and hopefully get an u/s done the next few days.

I am a little late in the game here but I was a patient of MLF also. Dr. P was my main doctor. Five years ago I was in the same situation as you. My HCG was rising however it was well behind what they expected. They didn't see things on the u/s until a week after they expected it. Dr. P wanted me to terminate, I asked to wait a week. I went back in a week later and before they did the anything they did another u/s and found a hb. Dr. P and Dr. G both thought I would miscarry but at that point they wouldn't do anything. My levels continued to rise and the baby grew. Dr. P gave us a 1 in a million chance of survival (literally the words out of his mouth). We pressed on. I now have an almost 5 year old son, however I must warn you that he did turn out to have some health issues (club foot, IUGR, respiratory issues) and the main reason for the delay in HCG is that he has a minor chromosomal anamoly. I am not trying to scare you but I will tell you that we had issues during the pregnancy, he was in NICU for 16 days and then we had issues after that. However would I have done it any differently? No way in hell. I would have loved to have had a happy healthy baby but that apparently was not in the cards for me.
Anyway I know that Dr. P can be quite aggressive and opinionated however he was only telling me what he knew in his experience. I am glad he was honest with me and didn't try to sugar coat it. I hope things work out for you and that you can go on to have a happy and healthy nine months. Please let us know how everything goes.

Thanks, andrea for sharing your story. There is still no update on me. Still no bleeding, pain or anything. I tried getting a second opinion Friday, but really the OB just said the same thing and wouldn't do an u/s because I was not in any pain. I really don't fault Dr P (except for causing me stress!) because he was giving his opinion, and although we did not agree he did give way (grudgingly) with what we wanted which is to continue everything until Dr G came back.

I would have to say that it was a little irresponsible of him to just tell me on the phone to stop everything and declare the cycle a bust with only one test where HCG went down given all the lab mess ups happening which he was aware of. At the very least, he should have ordered another set of exams just to rule out lab error.

Thank you andrea, for giving us hope. Our numbers are low and we may be around a week behind (6w2d no sac, beta 1900+). There is the possibility of an ectopic, but Drs G and P and even the OB I saw doesn't think so, so we're just praying for the best.

Linaa, thanks for remembering me! I'm just waiting for Thursday now. I hope you're enjoying your break and hope you get a successful cycle next time too!

You are right there. He should have brought you in for at least another set of bloodwork. Glad you stuck to your guns to wait until Dr. G came back. I hope your appt tomorrow goes better and you get some good news. Please let us know how it goes.

Hi Andrea and Lynaa! I just got back from MLF and got good news! They found the gestational sac and yolk sac at my uterus! Dr G was happy but was still thinking the pregnancy is still non-viable as the development is slow but he would be glad if the baby and me proves him wrong by making it through!

Thanks! My HCG went up to 6300 from 1900 in a week. At first I thought it was slowing down but I just read from webMD that from 1200-6000 the doubling rate goes down to 72-96hrs and aat >6000 it takes four days to double so I relaxed a bit. Everyone at MLF was happy with my u/s results as we're not dealing with an ectopic. Danielle and the nurses were fearing an ectopic so they were very happy, and as a bonus, we know the embryo implanted. They are still not optimistic with this pregnancy but I just have a feeling my baby will make it through
