Unhappy reaction with metformin or spiroloctone

HI Girls,
I have just been daignosed woth Daibeties type 2(well they are not 100% sure yet) but i am boderline, and she has prescribed me metformin and spiroloctone(for anti male hormone)
i was just wondering if you have had any kind of reaction from these drugs at all, as i have been having irregular heart beat and palpitations.
should i worry??
please tell me if you have had any other problems with this drug??
i have got underactive thyroid and i am on 175mg i am taking metformin and spiroloctone.

anything you would highyl recomned for someone like me who has underactive thyroid/ pcos/ borderline diabities/ thalaseamia trate??

PCOS sufferer for at least ten years, Glucose intolernace take metformin 3 a day, Underactive thyroid i take 150mg for it, i am about 13stones and 2lbs in weight, Thalaseamia trate (type of aneamia) and i am very hairy! i am 5ft tall!

recently been having pins and needles and burning sensation in my limbs too

I can't help much other than to say that I'm taking Fortamet (which is Metformin) for diabetes and Spironolactone for PCOS and I haven't had any problems. But heart palpitations can be serious...you best check with your doctor!

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16. I have been taking sprionolactone since then and have never had any reactions.

Someone posted recently on the Alternative Remedies board that she was having a rapid pulse while on Spiro. She said that it lowered her blood pressure too much which made her heart beat faster. Here is the link to the thread:

Met 2000mg since 2001, started Glucophage XR 4/22/04, then switched to Met ER 6/04; also: multi, Vit. C, Vit. E, B12/folic acid combo, fish oil & borage oil combo, garlic capsules, cinnamon, Vitex, calcium with magnesium/zinc, biotin, CoQ10, selenium,iron
Other meds: Verapamil and Altace(for blood pressure)
Started laser hair removal 7/29/03, completed 3/04 (it works!)
UAE for fibroid 3/24/03 and 3/16/04
