Unhappy Really Bad Progesterone Pains...Any Suggestions???

Hi. I haven't taken Progesterone for over 4 years. The last time that I did, I remember having really, REALLY bad cramps. I normally have extremely bad cramps before AF, but not like I do on Progesterone.

I am now on day 6 of 10, and have been having cramps for the past 4 days. Yesterday and today, they have been SO bad that I am almost in tears and it is doubling me over at times.

Does anyone have any suggestions to help? Ibuprofin is NOT helping. Heat is a little, but I can't use it at work.

Any ideas or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Call your doctor and see if he can give you something for the pain. I'm sorry you're hurting - I used to get these kinds of craps when I was younger, but have recently been getting them again with Progesterone too.

The only thing that ever seems to help me is a heat pad, sweats, an old romatic chick flick and chocolate ice cream (the chocolate makes the cramping worse, but the chocolate somehow still makes everything better).

Sorry.

Davilara - Thank you for your sympathy!

Well, the cramps are still here, just as bad as they were , but I have been able to forget about them for a while. I put my own twist on it, but took your advice. DH got off before I did today & had dinner cooked before I got home. We ate, then I got some Butter Pecan ice cream, had on some comfy clothes, and watched a movie with DH. I think I'll be going to bed soon.

I used to take Darvocet for pain, but can't handle it anymore. I can't take the feeling that it (or most other pain meds) give me. I just can't stand feeling "out of it" (I'm a control freak)!

But, if anyone knows of anything else, I would be glad to know what it is. If not, I will be taking Davilara's advice again tomorrow night!

I'm having the same exact symptoms with a medication called Norethindrone (generic for Aygestin). My doc prescribed 2 pills per day for 10 days to bring on my period. I am doubled over in pain, almost can't take the pain... just wondering if there were any other insights into this. Does anyone know why this happens? What's actually happening in our bodies that's causing such extreme pain? I took Provera before to bring on my period, and remember this kind of pain from that, too.

Tigerlilly - Is Norethindrone/Aygestin like Progesterone? I have NO idea what causes this, but it is a TERRIBLE thing to have to go through. Davilara's advice was really good though! I fell in love with Godiva ice cream, and it really does seem to help with the pain! But, I would love to see an answer to your ??? - it's something that I have wondered about myself.
