Points: 1,229.54 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,229.54 | Really confused... I was just diagnosed with PCOS one week ago, I have never had regular periods and would go 7-8 months at a time without getting one. Low and behold I DID get pregnant with my DD , who is now almost 8 months old.
Well after I had her I was sick of not knowing what was wrong with me, and they finally did an ultrasound and found the cysts on my ovaries.
They put me on Yasmin BC and told me not to worry that this is a very common syndrome. She said if I carried a baby once, I can do it again...
My question is...when I want to TTC what will they do for me?? She said there are plenty of medications out there to help me get pregnant ..then she sent me on my way. I know I should of asked more, but I think I was in shock..I had read about PCOS before when I was trying to self diagnose myself. It doesnt sound very nice, and my gyno was so lax about it.
I do want more babies, dont get me wrong I am very very blessed to have had my DD after 4 yrs of TTC...but knowing now that it could be very hard to have another and even miscarrying...it scares me!! And will they put me on medication as soon as I want to TTC, or will they see if I can do it on my own?? I have another Appt in one month to see if the bC is agreeing with me..So i guess I will ask more then.
I am so glad I found this site. Thank you ladies for listening.

What concerns me about your post is that it sounds like your doctor is not treating you for PCOS or giving you enough information. It is a syndrome that effects your whole body and can have quite an impact on your overall health, not just your ovaries/periods. There are blood tests that should be run for androgen levels, blood sugar and insulin resistance, thyroid conditions, cholesterol and triglycerides, etc. Problems in these areas and others are commonly related to PCOS for many women. I hope you will be getting tested and then treatment if any need is identified. Most of us take Metformin (a diabetes drug) which helps our symptoms whether we are diabetic or not, and for some people this even regulates periods and increases fertility without "fertility" drugs. If your current doctor does not treat your overall health, I think you need to find another one to see about PCOS.
Best wishes to you!

This disorder effects more than just your cycle. It has a lot to do with hormone levels and causes other symptoms besides irregular periods or cystic ovaries. You would defiantly want tests run to check your hormone levels. Your gyno doesn't seam to know a whole lot about this since she just gave you bcp and didn't give you any other information. I would suggest trying an endocrinologist. That was the best thing I ever done. Wish you the best, and glad you found this site!
