Default Really confused...

Ive been reading on acne.org that many people experience initial breakouts when starting a bc pill. My question is why? My gyno and derm said not true they should start to work to keep your hormones in balance not cause you to break out.

Anyone have any evidence or reason why?

I have never heard this before. I will reassure you though that your gyno is probably right. When I started taking BCP, I didn't have any breakouts. In fact, my skin cleared up a lot. I didn't even realize how bad it was until after it had cleared up.

I take Yasmin and I really like it. I never had any side effects from it. I know this is weird, but one of the things that I like most about Yasmin is it gives me a period every month. Before, my period would come whenever it wanted, with no warning, would be super painful, and last a super long time. Now I get my period once a month at the same time and it lasts about 4 days and is very light. I also take Spironolactone which helps mainly with facial hair (at least for me).

when i first started ortho-tricyclen i had a breakout, but after that first month i didn't get nearly as bad monthly breakouts as i used to when i wasn't on bcp. i was glad for that.

i switched from ortho-tri cyclen to nortrel and had no problems with the switch. then, after i came off nortrel i got my usual monthly acne again. oh joy.

possibly one of those things where everyone reacts differently to medications.
