Hi guys. I don't think this is pcos related, but I was wondering if anyone has had recurring lower back pain. It's at the bottom of my spine (top of my butt?) and I've had it for a couple months now on and off.
I was in a car accident 3 years ago that started the same kind of pain and I went to a doctor who told me I would need to continue to come back pretty much all the time. That's not really in the budget right now and I really don't want to see a doctor for this.
So, a couple questions:
Has anyone had back pain that got better when losing weight? Do you think this pain is still related to the prior accident? Is it just from the weight of always lifting a toddler?
It hurts especially bad after being in the sitting position for a while.
Any suggestions or am I goint to have to take the plunge and go to a doctor?
Thanks, Renee

I have been having really bad back pain also. I've noticed if I lose a little weight the pain seems to decrease but it comes back as soon as I start putting weight back on. I also hurt my back a few years ago I was a state tested nursing assistant and lifting all of them heavy residents really did a number on my back. Try to do some stretches and that may also help.
I've got lower back pain too, on the left side of the spine, just above my buttock. I figured that I'd pulled a muscle, but didn't know how. It started 2 weeks ago and although its subsiding, its still really sore. I don't think its PCOS related.

You may want to get a MRI done, because you could have a herniated or bulging disc in your spine from lifting or carrying something too heavy and not even know it.

my hubby too has this problem he was in and accident at work in nov. 2005 and his back has hurt in the same spot since. they did a ctscan and everything was normal, worker's comp won't pay for a mri which would give a much clearer picture, because they said they are the same thing. his doctor is really unwilling to help unless worker's comp is paying for it. so if you find out what is wrong with your back please share that information it just might help my husband. I also think that weight can effect it sometimes, because i used to feel so sick when i got beyond a certain weight but when i lost it i felt better. hope you feel better soon

Maybe, if you don't want to see your GP, you could go to see a chiropractor instead? When I lived in the States, there was a chiropractor school where the about-to-graduate students treated people for a small amount of money because they needed the practical experience. They were supervised by "real"doctor, the care was excellent, but it was cheap. Any chance something like that would be possible near you?

I usally go get reajusted 2-3 times a month. I'm on my feet all day shopping vegies and what not. My hips go out alot and it REALLY is horrible when I have to get them put back in but it feels so much better.

haahaa me too, I take at least, 2 methocarbamol 750mg and 4 co-codamol 30/500 a day for my UPPER back pain. I've tried them all so if One-hit Wonder isn't available when you need her, just knock my door!

geeez $8000 is a lot! I have a health plan which I pay about £10 a month to, it gets me physio and dental treatment and a whole lot of other things....is it expensive for that kind of thing over in the US?

all those things - lifting the baby, the excess weight and the accident could be contributing to your back pain. have you tried going to a massage therapist? or weight training to strengthen your back muscles?
