i just started met and my period is really heavy and i've been getting sort of like chunks of blood, are these blood clots? i don't know if this is normal because it never happens to me. is it because of the met?
Hi there - I can only answer part of your question. It is normal to have blood clots in your menstrual blood. It means that your blood is able to clot like it is supposed to.
I just started Met myself, and I have no idea if a heavy period is normal.
Good luck sweetie, and I hope you feel better soon (ie I hope your period goes away soon)
Did you just start a period after going for a long time without one? If so, the heavy clotting could just be extra lining that is being shed after a long dormant period of time. I went for about 2.5 years without a period at all, and when I had one after all that time it was VERY heavy with a ton of clots. HTH.

Mine wasn't that long without one, about 6-8 months, but I can't totally remember. But my first after being diagnosed was horrible. Really, really heavy for 4 days, sever cramping, major clotting. But I've had 2 more since and they keep getting lighter and easier. This one, for example, I had 1 day of spotting, 1 heavy day, yesterday was medium-light, today is very light and I've had absolutely no cramping.
I hope they get easier for you, too.

My experience was that my periods were definetly heavy for a few months. My Dr told me that it was likely my uterine lining was thick because of infrequent periods and I had extra lining to shed.
I wouldn't worry if you are feeling ok, but if you start to feel faint or anything, call your Dr.

It seems my experiences echo those of other cysters. After I first started taking Met, my periods would be really heavy and last for 7 days and now they're slowing down and getting quite light. I'm still getting nasty cramping though for the first day, which is something i haven't had since I was about 15!!!
HTH,
Dannie.

interesting.... I hadn't even made the connection until I saw these posts... I had BAD clots and they have actually decreased since starting Met. 5 ish weeks ago. Also, my doc said the clotting was partially caused by my low progesterone.

Clotting for me is normal. I was told the heavier your period the more clotting you will experince.
I just had my first period while being on met this time and it was lighter for me and was shorter also. I have been on met a month now.
Like the others said, if it has been awhile since you had a period your body has alot of lining to rid off.
Good luck and i hope it gets better for you!
