My in-laws live north of Brisbane, and we are about to take a trip down-under. I have been 4 times and love it. this time however will be the first time we are taking the kids.
I am very picky mom when it comes to brands. Now I was doing some research on Pampers diapers. And Procter& Gamble (who makes them in the US and in Germany) does not seem to have any info about Australia online.
Do they not sell Pampers there? (bear with me, i feel really stupid asking the question!)
When I go to Germany they have them, but the sizes are off by one, so if I buy a size 4 here it would be a size 5 there. So I was trying to figure out what it would be there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

No you can't get pampers here, not a stupid question.
My favourite brand is called Mamia but you can only get them at Aldi stores. The nappies here have the target weight for your child on the bag in Kg so you can easily determine which ones you need.
A couple of other popular brands here are Huggies and Babylove.
Hope you have a good trip

Thanks Smilie! you are up early!!! (have a clock in my living room with Brisbane time to check when we call the grandparents LOL)
with the nappies here, the weight is usually off. so when it says up to 10 kg you have to move up to the new size at about 8 kg. Do you experience that with the Mamia, or have you used the huggies or babylove and noticed it?
Thanks again!
(oh and I just noticed your siggie... congrats on the pregnancy ! )

LOL, yeah not by choice was I up so early. My back is acting up so couldn't sleep.
Yeah, it's the same here with most brands, if you're getting close to the upper weight it's best to go next size up. I've used all 3 brands and think it's safe to say that you get a bit bigger nappy from Mamia and Babylove than with Huggies. The Huggies here should be the same as in the US.
Thank you Congratulations to you on the arrival of Yael. Some airlines like Quantas have bassinettes that would be worth trying to get seats in those rows.

I am a babyloves fan...I find them more accomodating than Huggies when it comes to the weight reference, but I find I have to move up when about 2 kgs away form the target of the nappy..With huggies, I find it more around 3-4 kgs away form the target weight..
Enjoy your trip with the kids!

I also like Snugglers and Bi-Lo brand. With both brands the weight is off like you have experienced - enjoy your stay!

Not from personal experience but my cousin LOVES BabyLove. I try and take over a pack of nappies whenever I go over (their morgate is killing them) and she swears by BabyLove.

I swear by Babyloves also...for having twins, they are the best for both boy and girl I have found and alot cheaper...They are even cheaper than the woolies select brand, which is also a good nappy..it has a high back...
I am not a fan of snugglers, way too often both my 2 would leak through with them..
Everyone is different is their choices, I hope whatever you purchase does the trick and you are happy with them!

OK, it looks like I'm going to have to look at Babyloves again. I tried them with Lachie and I hated them...if the sticky tag touched his skin before you stuck them down they wouldn't stick at all. I quite often ripped the sticky tag right off sometimes too.
So, they must have changed....I'll give them a go. Snugglers always gave Lach a bit of a nappy rash so I haven't tried them again yet either. I'm a Huggies girl really - but like to get them in bulk when they are on special rather than pay full price. They are very expensive full price so maybe I'll give the Baby Loves a go again. Sorry to hijack your thread....just thinking out loud. Good luck with your nappy selection!!
Amy Babyloves don't have sticky tape, they're that velcro stuff now. I have had some babyloves that smelled a bit funky when they were wet and occasionally get gel leaks. I did not like their newborn ones, and don't know of anyone that does.
Mamia from Aldi, size large (7-16kg), 50 in a bag, is only $19. I think the size medium is 72? in a bag for the same price. I have never had a gel leak out of these.

Well it looks like I am going to have to re try Babylove too. I didn't like them when Mackenzie was little so have never gone back. I just used Huggies when they were infants. Now it is pretty much BiLo brand only - NEVER a leak for us. I will also give the Mamia a try too, as long as they make them big enough for Mackenzie - he is 20kg now! Great to have an almost three year old the size of a four or five year old!

Hey Donna - I was the same with Lachie! Finding nappies big enough was an issue. Gotta love our big, strapping boys.
Thanks Janet! I remember the gel leak with the BabyLoves too now that you mention it. I am keen to try the Mamia nappies you mentioned. Next time I'm near Aldi I'll get some for sure.
That reminds me....Huggies are on Special this week at Super IGAs. A $9 saving I think.
I have to use Huggies for Dylan, cause every other brand I've tried him with has leaked - especially overnight. Hes a thirsty little mite, so he obviously pee's alot too, but Huggies seem to be the only nappy to hold it all in!!! But I never buy them full-price either!! I always manage to find them on special somewhere!
But I do use Babyloves for Alyssa, and she is ok with them.

I had gel leaks with the newborn Babyloves, but had to use them as Hamish seems to get bad nappy rash from the Huggies. I haven't tried him in the infant size Huggies yet so maybe they would be different. We have only just got him out of newborn size Babyloves!
I tried the Bi-Lo nappies on Liam, oh dear, what a mess they made of him. Was upset cause they seemed like a good nappy, just not for his skin.
