Points: 4,773.67 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 4,773.67 | I started Met on day 20 of my cycle. I had a progesterone test done on day 21 (just to see if I might have ovulated on my own) and the number was extremely low. It certainly looked like I was headed toward another long cycle (my last one was 70 days long and only ended after provera). I started Met at 500 mg for about 5 days, then moved up to 1000 mg for 5 days, give or take. My doctor said to work up, about a week at a time, but I had minimal side effects, so I did it a little quicker. Exactly 14 days after I moved to 1500 mg af showed up. My whole cycle length was 42 days. It could be coincidence (prior to the 70 day cycle, I had long cycles, but still always got af after about 40-45 days). Still, I have never been so excited to see her show. I would give it a little time at 1500mg before doing anything else. I asked the same question on here last week, decided to wait and af showed up two days later. good Luck! |

My Mood: Points: 132.43 Bank: 338.65 Total Points: 471.08 | I was afraid that I'd never get AF with Met either. I must have been lucky because I got it the first time around. Sometimes it takes time though, in the end it'll be worth it! Hang in there.

Points: 35,733.01 Bank: 3,348,243.84 Total Points: 3,383,976.85 | I was on 1500 mg and it still took me 10-11 weeks to get my first period. They continued to be irregular untilI started eating to control my insulin and now I'm every 29-32 days like clockwork.
If you check out the FAQ thread: ( http://www.soulcysters.net/showthread.php?t=48708)..it answers this directly too. A Dr indicates in one of the studies: For women with PCOS treated with metformin alone, about 25% begin regular menses within 3 months, and about 50% to 95% begin regular menses within 6 months. In my practice, about 50% of women begin having regular ovulatory menses after 6 months of treatment.
Hope it helps!
