Arrow Recently diagnosed...High testosterone...

I was just diagnosed March 4, 2009. After years of irregular cycles, excess hair (thought it was in the genes) acne, dandruff...
As I got older, I started reading into PCOS! Eventually I made the appointment and had all of the tests done (bloodwork and ultrasound). Bloodwork came back normal...except for my testosterone levels! They're at a 93! My OBGYN prescribed me Ortho-Tricyclin Lo. I'm in hopes I won't experience the same side effects as I did with Yaz Blaaah! As being a newbie...my question is: Should I be on Ortho-Tricyclin Lo or another bcp due to my symptoms? And should I be on Spiro or any other medication to lower my testosterone levels?

Thank you!

Hi Chanell, yes spiro will help lower androgen levels that are causing the excess hair growth and acne. You can also take saw palmetto, licorice root, white peony, spearmint tea & follow a low GI diet to lower them.. Birth Control Pills generally aren't the best in the long run as they can increase insulin resistance.

93 actually isn't that bad. I am at a 118. I'm on Metformin and was put on bcps for a few weeks.

Hi I read your reply that saw palmetto works. I was thinking about trying it but I don't know if I should try it in combination with other dietary supplements or if it works best alone. Also, does it help regrow hair or just stop hair loss?

May I ask why you were put on this just for a few weeks and not long term? Can one be on met and bcp for a short while only and still have a positive affect?
