Hi everyone...my name is Jenna...I'm twenty-one years old from Maryland.

I was dx'd with PCOS last week.

I don't really even know what PCOS is so I thought I'd join this forum.

I've looked at a list of the symptoms, but none of it really seems to fit me...

I am a pear, not an apple. Regarding weight, I have an eating disorder and I've read that people with PCOS who develop eating disorders usually do because they were overweight to begin with. I've never been overweight in my entire life. I'm not diabetic (that I know of). I took an insulin resistance test on Friday, but I'm sure I'm fine. I don't know, we'll see. I'm not hypothyroid. I don't have hypertension. My blood pressure is usually normal or low. I'm almost always orthostatic. I have irregular menses, but I always thought it was because of my anorexia/bulimia. Maybe it's the PCOS too? I don't have hair growing in strange areas. My hair is always falling out, but I've always attributed that to malnourishment. I don't have a problem with acne, but I have and have always had severe eczema which is further complicated by compulsive skin picking. My voice has deepened some, but I'm also a smoker. I don't know if I'm infertile because I've never tried to have kids. I suffer from depression which I'm sure has something to do with abnormal hormone levels (I get really crazy around the time before my period starts). I've been clinically diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

I don't know...I really don't think I have PCOS even though the medical tests point to it. I have elevated levels of testosterone and small cysts on my ovaries.

My doctor prescribed Ortho Tri-Cyclen, but I'm really hesitant to take it because I'm not sure how it's going to react with my psych meds and I'm afraid I'll gain weight on it. So, I think I'm going to discuss this with my psychiatrist today.
