Default Recommendations for epilators to use on my face?

I started using my Braun epilator on my upper lip (yes, it really hurt but it's better than shaving daily) and my cheeks but it's a little bulky and hard to use in some areas. Has anyone had any luck with any other epilator on their face?
Thanks,
Jenni

Smile Same here...

Hey JenniC,

I just mentioned the same thing on another thread...I'm not sure of which brand to use, but I have my eye on a few that I have seen on Target's website...Epilady Legend Full-Size Rechargeable Epilator - EP81033

Based on the reviews, this one is good...but I wanted to hear if any other cysters recommended this one or perhaps a better one...

I'm not sure if price should matter...I usually go for the more expensive products which arent always the best...

I just epilated for the first time last night... my face is a bit red... but it was sure better than plucking each individual hair and going cross-eyed! I used the big bulky Braun Silk Epil Soft Perfection.... seemed effective, and painful YEOWTCH! so sorry I can't help about the smaller ones meant for your face.

BTW, are you still epilating your face on a regular basis? and how's it going?

hi ladies,

I have been epilating my face with the braun for about four months now.

It helps me with manual plucking because it gets hairs i usually don't see, and also it saves me time. However, i still have to manually pluck the shorter hairs.

It's good in general and it doesn't hurt too much, my face is used to the pain anyway (about 20 years of daily plucking)

my face is really swollen today...

I used to pluck and then when there got to be too many hairs (about 3 months ago) I began shaving...

maybe that's why ... my hairs did NOT want to release ... so my face is very red, hot and swollen today.... probably too many hairs pulled so fast at the same time. I will keep it up every couple of days and hopefully my skin will get used to it.

Plucking/mechanical epilation/threading can work very well for some women for very fine hair growth.

However, where the growth is coarse, male-type hair it may well be too strong to pluck/epilate/thread without causing damage to the surrounding flesh.

Joy, very true. In my case, the damage is already done...

I only use the epilator in places where i've been plucking for many many years (i.e. my face), I actually can't use it on my legs, it's too painful and I get a tiny drop of blood out of every follicle where a hair has been pulled out, even though the hair around that area is finer than the one on my face (sad, but true, thicker beard than leg hair).

I guess that I've got very used to shaving -- I've been shaving my moustache since I was 13 and every day since I was 15. Then when I passed 40 my beard started growing in. I reckon that if I've got male-type moustache and beard growth, then shaving makes sense.

I use my Braun SilkEpil (the blue and white one from Target) on my face and love the results. But this is only because the hair is thin and fine. I already spent lots of $$$$$$$$$$$ getting laser and electrolysis done and still have some hair left.

Hiya!

I've never been brave enough to use epilator on my face but have used it elsewhere, it is something I'm considering!
a16630 I just wanted to ask after laser/electrolysis has the growth reduced? And I just wanted to ask how many treatments did you have to get before noticing the difference?

I only have fine thin growth on my face after laser and electrolysis. I guess i could shave it but the epilator results last longer. The growth is mostly on the chin and neck area. It took about a year of laser treatments before I saw some true reults. I had treatments about every 8 weeks.
