UPDATED BELOW!!!! Recurrent bleeding during early PG - info within
I sure hope that I am on to something here…maybe figuring out why I keep bleeding after I get pregnant. The last 2 pregnancies, I have started bleeding pretty heavily during the 5th week.
With our miracle DD, I was on complete bedrest to let the bleed heal (for 7 weeks). With our last baby, I wasn’t as strict about it and unfortunately lost our baby after bleeding for 3 weeks, off and on.
I have been doing a lot of research on sub-chorionic hemmorhages. They are often related to clotting disorders. I had the bloodwork for the clotting disorders done within a a few weeks after we lost Kristopher. The results all came back normal. But I discovered that 1) significant blood loss can affect the results (I bled so heavily that I narrowly escaped transfusions) and 2) that some women develop clotting disorders only when pregnant. So if my blood count was off, due to the blood loss, and my HCG levels were almost 0, that maybe my blood test results weren’t really accurate. I so hope that I am right. I really need to prevent the bleeding from starting at all! I am on aspirin this time, so hopefully that will prevent any clotting problems until I can meet with a specialist. I am just waiting for my RE’s office to send the info and a referral to the specialist, and then set up an appointment.
Fortunately, I am only 2 dpo, but I can’t afford to wait a few weeks to find out. I did have a HCG trigger shot – 10,000 injected on Monday am, so perhaps they can run the bloodwork ASAP and give me some answers.
I really hope and pray that I am on to something here so that I can have one more miracle baby!!
Anyway, I just wanted to post this information in hopes of helping someone else.

Just adding to what you have stated...I lost 4 of my babies early in pg...not one lived past 7 weeks. With my ds I took baby asprin everyday until 2 weeks before delivering. I started taking the baby asprin praying that it would help (I was on my way to getting tested for clotting disorders when I found out I was pg again). It did..combined with met, I carried full term. I honestly believe I my m/c's were due to a clotting disorder....

Heidi, I'd definetly mention to your doctor when they give you the results that you're taking aspirin now and ask if they know if that would throw off the results...I bet it would, though. I know one of my sister's friends was taking some cold medicine once and took some blood tests and her results were way off and come to find out it was the cold medicine!
The info you gave is good to know. I started spotting at 7w2d with my loss and spotted like 16 days. It wasn't a lot of blood, but I had to definetly wear something all the time. They couldn't figure out why I was spotting and I wasn't put on bedrest or anything....I regret not putting myself on bedrest, though, because I had an ultrasound at 7w4d to look at what was going on because I was spotting and the HB was good and everything was fine, except spotting. At 9w4d I started spotting more (I guess you'd call it bleeding really) and went to the ER and the doc the next day confirmed there was no HB and the baby stopped growing at about 8w4D.
****pregnancy mentioned******
I am now 8w3d and put myself on aspirin while TTC. The nurse told me to discontinue the aspirin IMMEDIATELY when I called to make my first appointment for a beta and progesterone test. I did a lot of research and decided to go against her and talk to my doc at that first appointment and see what she said. I kept taking it during that week. My doc did say I could continue it until I start the second trimester...but I might continue it longer, I haven't decided. I suggest anyone TTC or with a previous loss to go on low- dose aspirin. I couldn't really find any negatives. There are other benefits besides for clotting disorders...supposedly it might help with preclampsia and a few other conditions. I guess I'll never know if it has helped me or if my loss was for other reasons, but I'd rather take it for precaution!
I totally agree with you Crown!!! I hope to be just a couple of months behind you and we can have our beautiful babes next summer & fall!!!!
One thing that I am afraid of is bleeding. If the hemmorhages I have had weren't from clotting problems, and if I have another hemm. if I get PG this cycle, I am so afraid of major bleeding. I bled enough during my last m/c that I was scared for my own life.
Oh the chances we will take to have our precious babies!!!

I would mention that you are currently taking the baby asprin. I never went through with the testing after I found out I was pg. I wish I had just so I would know if that was for sure the cause of my losses. I remember asking my ob if it was ok to take baby asprin and she said that she doesn't reccommend it to her patients. I medicated myself. Maybe I shouldn't have but I am glad I did. I would suggest anyone with subsequent losses to get tested...and if they don't to try the baby asprin. I truly believe this helped me carry my son to full term. I wish you much success and pray you are holding a little one in your arms soon!

Hey girls...I am back!!!!! I don't know if any of you remember me...
I still believed that I had a clotting disorder so...
I met with my new peri earlier this month and we reviewed my blood tests (RPL testing). Long story short, my RE and the peri that she consulted with, didn't run all the necessary tests. I had a copy of these test results and my former peri reviewed them and said that they were all run and all normal. My new peri had 9 more vials of blood drawn and guess what...I HAVE A CLOTTING DISORDER!!!! Who would have thought that someone would be so happy to find out this news. But it may very well mean that I can have another miracle baby!!!
I am going to have a 3D u/s of my uterus next Monday just to make sure that there is no scarring, etc. Meet with my new peri to go over the Heparin plan, and the rest of my blood tests and u/s. Then I will stop taking my BCP and start the Follistim injections.
I am so excited!!!! I can't wait to be back at TTC'ing again!!!!
It just goes to show you that doctors can make mistakes and we must always do our own research and fight for ourselves!!

Congratulations on this breakthrough!! I'm sorry you have a disorder, but you now also have an answer! Very best wishes to you, buddy. (((Hugs)))

You know i have always wondered about this cuz i also had the tests done after my m/c's and my hcg was at 0. My doc did mention that they would do the tests again after i get pg again, so i think she does know that it sometimes only shows up when pg. I also had a weird af with lots of clots and i wasn't pg (that month i was taking a break so i wasn't taking my baby asprin). Every other month when i have taken the baby asprin i have had no clots. My doc was the one that suggested taking the baby asprin and she told me i should take it the entire pg. I have had a hysteroscopy that showed a normal uterus with no scarring. The other problem i have could be progesterone related cuz with all of my pregnancies i have not had a P4 above 9 which i think is way too low. I now take prometrium from ovulation until af or BFP whichever comes first. I am hoping with the Met, Prometrium, and baby asprin i am covering all my bases. I have not been pg since being on these medications so here's hoping. All i can do is wait.
I am thinking about taking baby aspirin and your stories have inspired me to do so. I have had 2 early miscarriages and everything always looks good: progesterone, uterine lining, etc. But, I start bleeding right away. I need to get tested for blood disorders and mentioned it to my RE, but nothing has come of it yet. I asked the RE today if she thought taking baby aspirin was a good idea--she said she doesn't think it helps anything but doesn't think it will hurt anything either--so it's up to me. I think it will help--I at least have to try!
So, my question is (seems to be differing opinions), when should I start taking the baby aspirin? After O, when I get a positive test? Now? Today, I am on day 11 and waiting to O after taking clomid.
Thanks for any help!
Liz

Lizlee - I think aspirin is a great idea. I would start taking it daily, and right away. I do think that taking aspirin does effect the blood tests, so if you are going to have it tested, I would wait.
Karen - my dear, dear friend...we are so hopeful, and probably a little crazy too. But we just can't help ourselves. I know you understand. So we are now on CD 10 and hope that the lovenox injections do the trick...or at least get us over our first hurdle. Then we just have to keep those mean on contractions at bay. Are you guys thinking about TTC again? How is little Danny doing?
