My Mood: Points: 450.38 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 450.38 | Recurrent Cysts? G'day fellow Cysters First things first...I would like to applaud everyone on this site for their bravery in dealing with this disease. It gets frustrating I know, but what else can we do but grin and bear it right? I was diagnosed when I was 15 and had my first surgery 2 weeks later to remove a 6cm dermoid cyst from my right ovary. The doctor was pretty old fashioned and decided to cut me open. I have since had an 8cm scar across my lower abdomen. Bikinis have never been my friends 9 years and 3 surgeries later, not much has improved. While I am lucky enough not to battle with weight issues, suffer from acne or have excess hair growth, my recurrent cysts are a real problem. I had my 3rd surgery in Jan. 06...in October, barely 10 months later, another cyst has appeared and I need to go for surgery again in Jan. 08. That would be #4 and I'm tired of being cut open time and again. Not only does it hurt each time I have surgery, but the recovery process always puts my life on hold for at least a month. Has anyone had a similar problem? Can anyone offer me any advice to deal with or reduce the chances of these recurring. Good as my Gyne is, all he's done is prescribe BCP! I get really depressed and I feel really bad for my partner and for my family, who have been supportive of my situation and stuck by me through all the bad times. Thank you in advance and I look forward to hearing from someone soon! |
