One thing I haven't heard is that it could be a disease called Interstitial Cystitis. If your UTI tests start coming back negative though you are still experiencing this this might be something for you to google.

BTW cranberry juice is bad of I.C. but creates a slick environment for the bladder which is good for UTIs and the prevention of bacteria sticking to the walls.

Wink Recurrent UTIs

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are often uncomfortable and very painful, but please note that you are not alone - as many as 8.3 Americans visit their doctors annually for this condition! If you suspect a UTI and are looking for good information about the condition, or wish to post questions to physicians about general urinary health, visit this revamped and resourceful Web site – www.cystex.com.

The Cystex product sounds like it could be helpful, but my UTI's are so painful, that there is no way I could wait several days to see a doctor. When one hits, I pass blood and that is very painful. I'd have to go to the ER if my doctor couldn't see me immediately.

I get UTIs so often I don't even bother going to the doctor anymore. I follow all the "rules" (even use a special body wash and dye-free detergent), but I still get about one a month. Of course, I go to the bathroom about a thousand times a day, so maybe that's part of the problem. I also have hesitancy and retention, but I think those might be medication-related (though the retention seems to have gotten worse lately). One doctor suggested I might have a structural defect. Another told me to stop drinking caffeine and carbonated drinks. I just take AZO and wait it out. I really don't know what else to do.

I had chronic UTI's and kidney infections. Turned out I had a kidney stone and until that was taken care of, they kept recurring. No stone = no more UTI's except occassionally.

Wow, I thought something was like seriously wrong with me! This is the 3rd UTI I've had in 9 months, it sucks! Last time I went to my old doc for it she wouldnt even test the urine for it, she wanted me to wait 10 days to get tested for IC. My mom had antibiotics, I took them and it was gone! Right now it's just lots of water and cranberry juice until I go to the doc tomorrow. So it sounds like what everyone is saying is you should urinate after sex? So if you don't that could cause the infection, interesting, wish I had known that before! Great info ladies!
