I take it from CD1 to O, in capsule form. It's a uterine tonic.

From Viable Herbal...

Quote:
Red Raspberry leaf (Rubus idaeus) has an affinity for the female reproductive system. Also known as Bramble and Hindberry, Red Raspberry aids the menstruating woman as it helps to bring balance into the menstrual cycle and will help alleviate excessive bleeding. It has even been used in the past when recovering from sexual trauma and abuse. The fruit is rich in nutrients and iron and is helpful in the treatment of anemia.

The primary properties of this herb are considered to be alterative, anti-abortifacient, antiseptic, antispasmodic, astringent, hemostatic, hormonal regulator, hypotensive, kidney tonic, nutritive, parturient, prostate tonic, uterine tonic, and yin tonic.

Raspberry Leaf is considered a supreme tonic for pregnant women to consume during their nine months to tonify the uterus, nourish themselves and the growing baby, prevent miscarriage, and facilitate birth and placental delivery. When used after birthing, it can decrease uterine swelling and minimize postpartum hemorrhaging. Make sweetened Raspberry Leaf tea popsicles to suck on during labor to facilitate the birthing process and provide nutrients. Red Raspberry is also considered a mild remedy for diabetes, and even helps infants with diarrhea. This is a universal remedy that is used to benefit women in many nations...
Now I have read things that have said that it shouldn't be taken in the first trimester, but otherwise is safe. This one says that it's fine throughout.

When combined w/ red clover, it is supposed to be effective in fertility.

I am taking Red Raspberry Leaf tablets in my last 5 weeks to aid in strengthening and toning uterus for faster/hopefully easier labor & delivery. I have only heard good things about this herb.

You can do a google search on it and learn quite a bit about it.

I also agree w/ previous post, some people say okay to use throughout pregnancy and some just say to use towards end of pregnancy. I chose to just use it towards the end just to be sure!

Hope this helps!

Jen
