I got pg. in March on Avandia but m/c in May. I also had a D&C. I have had regular AF since July (about every 35-40 days) but I'm not ovulating! I was ovulating fairly regularly before I got pg. and I don't know what could have changed that. Anyway, I have 2 questions:
1) What can I do to bring on ovulation? I've done too many cycles of Clomid & injectibles and I'm looking for a more natural route. I've heard of Vitex, etc. but I don't know how it would react with my other meds (I'm on 4 mg. Avandia, Glucophage, Wellbutrin, Armour Thyroid, baby aspirin & prenatal vitamins). I should also mention that I'm 41 years old and I don't have months to wait to see if something is going to work.
2) Would using natural progesterone cream help bring on ovulation? I have the cream but I don't know how to use it unless I'm ovulating? What day do I know what day to start/stop if I'm not o'ing?
3) Where is the best place to buy the herbal/natural remedies?
Are you IR (insulin resistant) ? If so have you tried tackling that? My doctor was insistent I wasn't IR since I am thin and he wouldn't even test me. I decided to treat myself as if I am IR so I changed my diet and began exercising. It wasn't until I did this that I began to ovulate.
BTW I have never taken any treatment for PCOS apart from BCP.

It looks like she is tackling the IR with Glucophage...

I have never been tested for IR this is just an assumption I have made. I stopped BCP in May last year and had very irregular cycles, with the longest cycle as much as 80 days. I don't know whether I was ovulating then since I wasn't temping. I decided to start treating myself as if I was IR in about March of this year.
I began taking more exercise (2-3 times per week), I reduced the amount of sweet and white carbohydrates in my diet. I supplemented with a multi-vitamin plus magnesium, zinc and chromium GTF. I also took 2 carob powder drinks twice per day. I also started tracking my BBT (basal body temp) to find out if and when I was ovulating. Low and behold after only a few months of this regime I began ovulating, my first cycle having an ovulation on CD 18. That was May and I have ovulated every month since then.
AS far as I am aware BBT is the best way of finding out if and when you ovulate without the help of a dr. OPK (ovulation predictor kit) can be unreliable with PCOS sufferers because of the high levels of LH.
I would throughly recommend that you read Toni Weschler book 'Taking Charge of Your Fertility' as it gives a wealth of knowledge on this subject.
