Default Regular met vs. XR?

I've been on regular met for about a month -- on the full 1500mg dose for almost two weeks. I haven't had any of the horrible side effects I keep reading about (knock on wood) but I do have very low levels of nausea and a general blechy feeling. I just don't feel 100%, KWIM? My libido is pretty much gone, also, which is a problem, since we're TTC.

I'm wondering if I should just give this more time or talk to my doctor about switching to the XR version. I have a little over a week's worth left of the regular pills.

Has anyone switched from the regular to the XR? Is the dosage the same? When do you take the XR?

I'm also going to try to eat fewer refined carbs and less sugar. I haven't been very good about that lately. Could that be contributing to my icky feeling?

Thanks in advance!

The carbs and such could be contributig to your icky feeling, however I didn't feel well when I was on reg. metformin. My RE said most ppl find the XR (or ER if it is generic) to be much more tolerable without all of the stomach upset.

GOOD LUCK!
