Default Regular Ovulation, but IR - Met helpful?

My periods have always been excruciatingly regular, and tests have confirmed that I ovulate -- I've got just some of the PCOS symptoms -- hirsutism, skin tags, IR, weight troubles, some jaw/bruxism, and I had really bad acne when I was a teenager.

And infertility -- TTC for four years now, with one pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage.

My new doctor suspects PCOS and I'm pretty sure she'll give me a prescription for MET if I ask for it at my appointment next week.

My question is, do y'all think MET would be helpful, fertility-wise, to someone whose ovulation is okay?

Oh, and I had a "sudden, unexplained weight gain" -- in fall, 2001, suddenly gained 20 lbs without changing anything, and then in spring 2003 lost the same 20 lbs easily when went on Atkins and have mostly kept it off. But even the smallest taste of corn or stuff gives me a wacky high and, later, a carb hangover.
