For those of you who do not know what reiki is about here's one brief summary of it...


Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life.
Its use is not dependent on one's intellectual capacity or spiritual development and therefore is available to everyone. It has been successfully taught to thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds.

I did a 'live' class and couldn't recommend them highly enough. The teaching materials are outstanding - no-nonsense, really in depth.

My dad died a few months back and on his last day, I quietly passed him Reiki. I'd kept quiet about my Reiki with my family as they're pretty cynical. A few minutes after I'd passed the Reiki dad fell asleep for the first time in 3 days. Then my stepmother said that the district nurse (dad died at home - ditrict nurse is one that visit your house), had said she was going to pop back when she was off duty and give dad Reiki. I confessed all! Went away, whilst he slept and when I came back passed him Reiki again til I had to leave (he was paralyzed and could no longer see, or speak or move or anything). The nurse passed him Reiki again when she was off duty and he died peacefully the following afternoon. I was aware that they say that once you are ready to go, the Reiki will ease the way. I had secretly Reiki'd him years before, when he was diagnosed and his cancer, according to the surgeon *went to sleep* for a long time. He was given a prognosis of 18 mths and lived 7 more years. I wish I'd told him about the Reiki sooner. So yes, I'm a big believer having seen it work. It's nice to know that conventional medicine is now taking note and that many doctors and nurses have explored Reiki, too.

Reiki Evolution have researched Japanese techniques such as Reiju, and are in contact with one of Usui's last surviving students, so have incorporated some Japanese rather than Western techniques. I studied Western Reiki first, but prefer the simpler, stripped down form that's a lot more instictive, I got from Reiki Evolution.

I wouldnt mind some distant reiki healing. I need to feel balanced. I've never been to a Reiki healer. I wish i knew of a reputable one in my area. I came across a reflexology chart on the net and thats how i became familar with Reiki. I think its very interesting

You know the odd thing is, when I let daily practice of Reki slip, I get into bad eating habits. But when I'm meditating/doing Reiki or Reiki-related things each day, I just don't fancy rubbish food! Also, strangely, when I do Reiki a lot, I can't eat food other people have prepared - saves a lot of money!
