My Mood: Points: 2,371.24 Bank: 43,247.25 Total Points: 45,618.49 | Relapse Girls, I think I'm losing it and going into a relapse here, and I mean into the Time Before Met. I find that all of a sudden, I feel like I have no brain, I am grouchy and touchy, and I have a bad temper to boot.
I lost my diamond ring today. I had put it in my lap to put on lotion in the car, then I got out of the car and it fell on the ground. I didn't even notice it was gone until hours (!) later and I just about lost it. We went back to the strip mall I lost it in, and lucky for me, it was still there, though it was badly scratched and bent.
Then I feel like I can't hold my temper with my son right now. I had been doing so well once the Met started working in my system, I was totally cool and calm and able to handle things. I had been able to keep my thoughts together and brain fog seemed a thing of the past. All of a sudden all the bad things are creeping back into my life.
Help! I'm getting scared. Is this supposed to happen after I've been on Met for four months now?? I've just traveled from Japan to the States, but I really don't think I can blame all this on jet lag, as I feel pretty much exactly the way I did before starting Met. I'm at such a loss, and I feel like I'm falling into a hole here...
Please tell me what you think.

I have noticed that a few days before my period I am so weepy and sometimes edgier that i ever was before in my life. I blame it on my hormones finally giving me PMS like 'normal' women!
I doubt is a 'relapse' of the drug as much as the drug doing what it's supposed to..fluctuating those hormones at the proper time.
A Pre-menstrual hormone swing combined with losing your ring, travelling and a pre-schooler would be enough to throw any woman off the deep end.
Hang in there sweetie...we're here if you need to talk.

My Mood: Points: 2,371.24 Bank: 43,247.25 Total Points: 45,618.49 | I'm not on BCPs and I only missed one dose of Met the night before we left Japan. I am overdue for AF, which is odd, b/c ever since Met brought it back it's been about every 29-30 days, and I think I'm on CD 33 right now. But that could be due to the whole traveling and time change business...
I have NEVER had PMS though, and if this is it - I don't want it!
This is not good. But really, is a scattered brain a sign of PMS? I just really hope I'll be able to pull myself together today. It will be really hard though - I've been awake since 4am, and I don't really do very well on five hours of sleep...
I think another thing that just made me lose it yesterday is this feeling of being out of control, which I really hate. I got mad at myself for losing my ring, and I can't control my three-year old (yeah, right, YOU try) at all times (he IS really good most of the time, but he can be SO stubborn), and I'm not in my usual environment, which doesn't help. Being a control freak really bites...
Good thing DH was understanding and caring, and thank goodness too for you guys! Wouldn't know what to do without you.

This will pass and all will become good in the work again. It could also be just stress and the Met delaying AF...Stress throws cycles out of whack and for my first year on met, my cycles were really bizarre. At the risk of getting your hopes up, could you be pregnant?
I have to admit, I hate being pre-menstrual, but if it means my body is "normal" hormonally, i'll take it ! It will be the first time anyone has referred to me as normal! LOL
Keep us posted on how you're doing ok?

{{HUGS!}}
I hope this slows down, but the first thing I thought of was your thyroid. Do you think you might be able to lower your dose just a touch? Maybe after getting what it needed, your body is now getting too much from the new drug. Hyperthyroid is just as crazy with our moods as hypo, so give it some thought.
If you're still in bad shape by the 24th, you and I will find a pub in Cincinnati and have a couple of dark pints!
Take care, cyster!

Points: 1,087.00 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,087.00 | This excact thing thing happend to me to Japan, met was great for awhile moods and everything changed, then about after 4-6 months on it IT STOPPED DOING IT STUFF, so the dr put me on AVADAMET, it put me back in order. it takes a good month to work and there is still some met in it, but the good thing is I didn't have to take as many pills as i did with the met, And the side affects weren't as bad. I was on it for about 2 months and my insurance was giving me a hard time about paying for it because of the 2 drugs mixed together (well thats there excuse) so I have gone off of it and have started met again, but in the time i was on the Avadamet I lost about 25 pounds, which i also did dieting, but i am hoping the met will work for me again, i don't want to pay out the ying-yang for avadamet. well hope this helps.
I have a son who is 3 too so I know how crazy it can be. And i thought 2's were the worse, I VOTE 3"S ARE!!!!!!!!

I honestly don't think I'm pregnant (I WISH!). Unless you believe in immaculate conception, hahahaha. I am on the lowest possible dose of Synthroid already, and I'm cutting the pills in half. If this continues, I may try to take one every other day. I also had another thyroid test done just before I left Japan, so we'll see how the Synthroid is affecting my system when I get back.
I feel pretty awful today, not having slept much. Walking zombie. That didn't keep me from hitting the malls though, lol. GOD I missed American malls!
I sure hope this is only a one-time occurrence, b/c I really love my Met, and it's done a lot for me so far. I'd hate to have to go off it.
Thanks again everyone! It's good to know I can always count on my cysters.

I have to agree it could be the PMS thing. If my period comes on time I have limited PMS but if she's overdue, WOW! I get exhaustion; snappiness and complete brain fog! I even have trouble getting my words out because I know what I want to say but can't remember the right word!
I had been taking gingko biloba for the brain fog but have had to stop as apparently it can counteract the met.
Another symptom I have with PMS is dropping things And I am always more clumsy.
PS also during delayed AF one of my son's favourite phrases is "you don't need to shout"!!!
I just tell him now "it's not you, it's the phase of the moon" lol!

Japan, you are working on getting used to the Synthroid...I can tell you that my mom went through the same thing. Any time you're taking something that is working on your hormones, it takes time, and in the meantime, it can be H-E- double hockey sticks until it gets under control. My mom said sometimes she felt like gutting my dad with a dull butterknife. Rest assured that given time, everything will fall back into place. Call me crazy, but every month when PMS comes, I still say, "thanks, met...." hee hee! I know it isn't very funny right now, honey, but hang in there....give the meds some time to get things right...it's twice as hard when life is throwing those curve balls at you! HEYYYYY.. you were over here and you didn't stop in and visit??? Well, of all the nerve... Hang in there, Japan...dont' give up....and we're here for ya!

I'm in Cincinnati RIGHT NOW! If you want to get together, I'd really love that. Not sure how far away you live...
Here's the thing that threw me off about how I feel - I've been on Met for four months, and everything is fine. AF comes as it's supposed to - no PMS. I've never had PMS, as a matter of fact. And I've been on Synthroid for almost a month now too, so why is this hitting me NOW? That's what I found so confusing and frustrating... |

See you soon,

thanks for checking back with me, you're really sweet. The episode passed within a couple of days, and I'm still not quite sure what it was. The missed dose three days prior? Adjusting to the 13 hour time difference? PMS? Hard to say. AF finally did show up, eight or nine days late. That was very odd b/c it is usually pretty regular. Oh well, who knows. I just really hope I'll never have to feel like that again. It scared me b/c I thought those days were over, you know?
I'm really glad I have you girls to ease my mind and support me when I think I must be losing my mind... Thanks for being there for me!
