I've been shaving my mustache for several years now and I'm starting to notice that my upper lip now has a dark tint to it. I've tried concealer under my foundation and it isn't covering it up. I tried waxing but I refuse to let it grow long enough to be effective! Am I going to run into the same problem with a cream hair remover? If I use a cream hair remover, will that solve the problem of the dark upper lip? It's so, so embarrassing. I don't know what to do about it.
Try the cream remover. That is what I use, and it lasts for 3-4 days. I have very fair skin, and have not had any problems with dark skin. It cannot hurt to try. Good luck!!!

Do you have sensitive skin?? If so, the cream hair removers may burn you. I have tried the cream hair removers and used them, but it not only burned my skin, it made it raw feeling and the pain would last a day or two. I have mine waxed twice a year and I tweeze inbetween waxing. The waxing only makes it red for a few hours. You may want to try a bleaching product. That helps lighten up the dark hairs. I use to use it sometimes also, but it burned my skin sometimes also. I hope this helps.

Shaving is probably the least invasive and least damaging method of hair removal. You don't say how often you shave, but if your moustache is heavy enough to have to shave it every day, then it's questionable whether the chemical depilatories weak enough to be designed for facial use will destroy the hair without burning the skin.

Well, I tried Sally Hansen's hair removal cream for the upper lip tonight and it didn't work. I guess since I shave it daily (I could probably get away with shaving it every other day) the hair was too coarse for it to work. I've gone the past few days without shaving so I thought I know the hair was long enough (though I don't know if that matters). So, out of frustration and once I stopped crying I plucked them all. Very painful, but my upper lip is now smooth. Hopefully now I won't have that shadow. Just in case though I bought some yellow concealer tonight while at Wal Mart. God, I hate PCOS.

Hair removal creams designed for facial use are just about strong enough to burn off the very light fuzz on the average woman who might be using them perhaps once an month. Moustache growth which you have to remove every day or two is likely to be far too coarse for chemical depilatories to have much effect on. For the sake of the record most dermatlogists would regard removing the hair once or twice a month to be within normal parameters for moustache growth on a woman, and removing it every one or two days to be within normal parameters for moustache growth on a man. The information is possibly helpful in considering the sort of removal method which would be most appropriate.
I was going to suggest that you occasionally pluck the moustache area, but I see that you just did When I get to the point that the skin gets really noticeablely dark like that, it's time to use the tweezers.

Have you considered a facial epilator?
Similar to waxing except MUCH MUCH less waiting for it to grow out. It can remove hairs as small as 0.5mm.
I have one myself, i actually used it around the side of my eyebrows to "tidy" them up. The one I have is a Braun Silk Epil 5580 I think. Argos do them and it cost €95 a little steep but it has a neat facial attachment (and facial wipes) and is a GODSEND for hairy navel, legs and arms, not to mention underarms Regrowth can be as much as 4 weeks over time, I get around 1-2 weeks so far
hi STARRYBABE21~ I was just wondering what color your epilator is? I have been looking for it and just want to make sure I get the right one. Also did you buy it online or somewhere else, beacuase i could'nt get the link to work. Thank you so much! ~whitney
