Default Remove ovaries?

Hi all, I'm a newbie. I'm 50 (I may be the oldest on here!). Story - had partial hysterectomy at 35 due to multiple large uterus fibroids. Kept ovaries but they did drain a cyst on one. My skin is a NIGHTMARE and has been ever since. I'm wondering...would the skin problems still exist if the ovaries were gone???
I'd CERTAINLY be willing to give them up!

Probably not since the hormonal imbalance is from the brain and not the ovaries themselves... but then again I'm not a doctor! It is worth asking about! :o)

Thank you for your response. I thought all of these symptons we are suffering with were caused by ovaries that are more or less diseased. I can't find anything online about this. Guess I'll start the roll tomorrow and see what it takes to get an appointment. Not sure if I should go to Gyno, Derma or Endo. I'll let you know what I find out and you let me know if you see anything regarding it. It just seems like it would be worth a try.

Dear Barb, firs tof all, good luck with your appointment. Secondly, my experience was that the gyno and derma didn't help me a lot with my skin, they just recmmnded all the usual topical treatments and new techniques etc, I've spent so much $$$ really and although they may have helped with the symptoms, my dear friend acne is still around in full force (sigh). Each to his own, but I'd say a good Endo is a good place to start. Best of luck.

Barb - a lot of women with PCOS think it is diseased ovaries, but PCOS is actually a hormonal imbalance that in turn causes your ovaries to become polycystic. They are still learning about the condition, but everything I have read doesn't say it is the ovaries themselves. That is why so many people are IR... insulin being off causes a cascade of other hormone imbalances... which is why we lose the hair we want, get hair we dont want, and get acne and all the other symptoms. I hope they figure this whole PCOS thing out soon and get us some treatment before we don't even need Halloween costumes to look scary!
