How do you know how many points you are giving someone? I have been giving out rep points to the amazing ladies here and notice that when I am given points (i'm saving up for a ribbon!) it varies. Sometimes it will be 1 pt, sometimes 3 or more. Is there a way to know how many points you are giving?

There are two sticky's at the top of this forum regarding Reputation Points and Gifts and Ribbons.
The points that you earn for posting, starting threads, and when others reply to your threads are used for buying Ribbons and Gifts. The amount of the points vary.
Reputation Points are when you give someone good karma. Those cannot purchase anything from the store.
Please read the sticky at the top of this forum for more details and it should clear up your questions.

I was referring to the rep points...when I get rep points it can vary from 1 to 4 points. Any idea why they vary in value? I assumed good karma was good karma and was surprised to see that the # of points varies. Is it based on the reputation of the sender maybe?

When someone gives you Karma the amount of points you get depends on two thing 1. How long they have been a SC and 2. How much karma they have. The longer they have been here and The more repuation points that they have = the more points thier karma is worth.
