Cysters,
I am writing this on behalf of my sister-in-law. (She asked me to.) We are puzzled with her situation and so far the docs she has gone to aren't helpful. I am wondering if anyone can give ideas on what she should talk to the doc about--reasons, tests to have done...or has anyone else had a similar issue? She is able to get pregnant, but can't "hold" the pregnancy, and begins to spot then within two days of the first spotting, she miscarries. Her past doc says there is nothing they can do about it, but she wants some answers(understandably) Her first miscarriage was at 14 weeks, the second @ 6-8weeks, and the third now @ 5 1/2 weeks. She goes in Weds. for an appt (supposed to be her first prenatal) with my doc and wants help with what to discuss with the doc. Any ideas?????

Have her ask about possible progesterone insufficency. I know some of us PCOS'ers have problems with low progesterone. They should really check her hormone levels as soon as she gets a positive HPT. Hope this helps.
By the way I live in Eagle River also.

Thanks for the great ideas. They will help! Her last doc says she checked her for PCOS, but that she doesn't have enough symptoms. We will see what my doc thinks. Due to other things she has had trouble with I assume there is some sort of hormonal imbalance going on, at least.

You haven't actually stated what her symptoms are like, does she have weight issues, facial hair, get her periods or does the concern stem from the repeat miscarriages?
To look at me I don't have obvious PCOS symptoms either. I have very little facial hair, am overweight but not excessively, have good skin ... but I AM severely insulin resistant. My own GP told me my Glucose tolerance test results were fine and they were far from that, lucky for me I insisted on seeing an endocrinologist. My periods have always been regular.
I recently had a miscarriage myself and know how it feels ... I was at risk but being on metformin if you do have insulin resistance may be very important.
She may be miscarrying because of issues with her insulin levels, quality of eggs through hormonal problems so she really needs to insist on getting tested and be forceful, alot of doctors won't take you seriously if they don't believe there's a problem but it's her life and she has to look after her body and any future babies.
Hope I've helped a little.
