My mom with back into the hospital today. She orignialy went into the hospital on 11/27/07 for a double knee replacement surgey. The orthopaedic surgeon missed up and knicked a blood vessel in her right leg. This resulted in her having no blood circulation in her leg for 2 days. She asked the surgeon why she could move her leg and all he said that he was going to get her and extra week on of physical therapy. On 12/1/07 at midnight. The vascular surgeon told my mom that they had to operate on her again and thats when they found out that the orthopaedic surgeon had snipped a blood vessel.
They had to make these huge incesions on both sides of the calf on one leg. Since fluid had build up in here leg, they had to keep the wounds open and put her on a machine called a wound vac to drain the fluid from her leg. Now she has these huge gashes in her leg that will close up with the help of the machine. Her recovery time has trippled and she has been in so much pain.
I thought she was getting better, but all this week she's been in pain. The home health nurse came out today to change the wound dressings and notice the infection in the left wound.
My mom just turned 59 on 1/21/08. She came in the hospital with a pretty good clean bill of health. Shoot her health is better then mine. I know things happened in life but this "man" was very negligent. He still haven't admitted that he made a mistake. Like I told my mom, with any surgery they're are risked. If he would had acknowledge that he made a mistake and rectified it I wouldn't be too upset. The vascular surgeon said if they would have caught it the same they she had the original surgery she wouldnt have to go though all this. The ortho surgeon new she was in trouble and left her for 2 days suffering.
She's been through so much mentally, physically, and emotionally/ Luckily her faith is very strong but I think sometimes she wants to give up, but she keeps fighting. Please cysters pray for her and our family through these trying times.
