Unhappy Researching Newbie Seeks Friendly Co-PCOS Strugglers!

Hi everyone, my name is Colleen, and I turned 30 and got diagnosed w/ PCOS in May of 2008. So, I am new, and educating myself, and feeling quite frustrated and Sad.
My hubby and I have been TTC since I got off of BCP in July of 2007. I didn't know I even had PCOS, I think I am still in shock from thinking everything was perfectly normal, that it was just taking my body longer than usual to regulate itself after being on BCP for 10 years.

I started Met about 2 months ago after seeing ultrasounds of my ovaries covered in cysts...my glucose is normal, I am average weight and height, and I took Duphaston after 6 months of not having my pd. It worked to force a bleed, now I am waiting for my pd...again. My Progesterone level at Day 21 after the Duphaston bleed showed I wasn't OV.

I am disheartened but know that there are women out there struggling. Hope I can help you, and you can help me!

Welcome to SC! You have come to the right place for lots of information and support.

I have been diagnosed for 13 years. Until the last 2-3 years, I did not O myself. And I didn't have regular AF either. I started to lose weight which helped me with getting a cycle of about 45 - 48 days. Then I started to O. I know you can feel discouraged when you are trying to change but nothing is happening as quick as you like.
I suggest you read this article about the Metformin:
Metformin should be restricted to cysters w/ glucose intolerance

Best of luck to you.

Red face

Thanks all for the warm welcome! I think this site is great...chuck full of info, and everyone is soo supportive!

I am feeling better today than I was when I first posted...my hope is that something hormonal is going on (my boobs are sore and have been for 4 days, which used to happen prior to getting my pd, but I am on day39 since my FORCED Duphaston bleed, and nothing has happend yet.)
I have never wanted to get my pd so bad, I just want to figure out if I can ovulate on my own before trying CLOMID...

My doc says he wants to "give my ovaries a rest" and put me on BCP for 2 months...anyone ever heard of this? Clearly I am TTC and it bothers me to spend 2 months on BCP, especially since I got off BCP in July, and for months and months didn't know I had PCOS!

My dr has put me on BCPs for 2 months with the same reason given. However, I did just have an ectopic and my left tube removed. Not sure since you just came off BCPs a year ago. Maybe you should get a second opinion.

Wink Tired of checking, anyone???

Hey all~
It has been awhile since i have posted...but I have great news. I have now had 2 periods in a row ON MY OWN, and this time AF came on CD35 as opposed to the month before, which was CD41. I am hoping the Met and the cinnamon I take every morning are helping!

Does anyone ever get tired of charting? I clearly haven't been ovulating, and I guess I am going through a rebellious "what is the point?" phase...

From the stories I've read, Met can take several months (like 6) to get you O'ing. How long have you been taking it?

Congrats on your AF!! That's great progress

HI!
Thanks for the encouragement. I started MET in May of '08....I think this is me being anxious and impatient (go figure).
I really think things are moving in the right direction. As always, though, you read stories about how some women start taking MET, and O the next month or two, etc. But like I said, the frustration is a factor for me...
my Mini Ov Microscope has been pissing me off (It showed me ferning the day I got AF--as if THAT is helpful.) and although I have been charting my temp for 6 months, there has been no noticeable pattern...perhaps that will change with time, just like everything else.

Again, thanks for listening to me vent...I don't know what i would do if I didn't have my SoulCysters!!!
