Default Restarting Met

I'm trying to decide if I should start taking metformin again. I took it about 6 six years ago when I was first diagnosed and had severe side effects. But, I'm gaining weight like crazy without any changes in my eating habits. Any suggestions?

I stopped taking metformin a while back, started actos, gained a bunch of weight, then started metformin again. I feel so much better now that I have started again. Don't know why i stopped.

I also decieded to have another go at it I was on in 2000-2001 and just started up again in Nov. Good luck. Listen to your body it will let you know if you can eat something without side effects and how much of it you can eat. Keep a food/side effect journal if need be. I started taking Fiber Choice about a month back and it has helped a lot. Also make sure you eat when taking meds as well as drink a lot...I make sure to down at least 22 oz of liquid everytime I take my meds.

I started taking met again about 3 weeks ago. I was on it for a little under a year but I would miss doses and then I just quit taking it. I was depressed and unmotivated. Since starting back the s/e haven't been as bad as the first time. I think it is because Im eating less carbs is the reason the bathroom s/e are not as bad. I would say give it a shot its not going to hurt anything to try it again. It might help if you have the XR tablets thats what I use.
